Damn, I had a bad shave yesterday with the HeadBlade. 3 nicks!
I exfoliated with a basic loopha(sp?) then really let the head soak in some HOT HOT water in the shower. I then got out of the shower, put gillete gel all over the head and face. I shaved my face first with my Quattro, and then moved to the head with the HeadBlade. I started front to back, and then applied more gel and went back to front. I then used the quattro for the ears and back of head. I think I could've stoped here, but...
After all that I rubbed my head and felt just subtle areas like on the sides leading toward the top, and at the very top of my head, areas that feel like I can get closer. So I go over and over again with the HB, trying to get as close as possible. This is where and when I got the nicks.
I was putting too much pressure on the blade too, I believe. I don't know what to think of the HB now. I'm gonna use it again tomorrow and be REALLY carefull and not worry about a SUPER CLOSE shave. What I really want to try is a Fusion blade. But I'm gonna have to wait on buying those blades. This Sly Guy is broke.

That's a bummer Raul. I went through the same thing. The good news is, as times goes on you'll rarely nick yourself.
I had one of those rare shaves this morning I call the SuperSly Perfect Shave.
Keep up the shaving and you'll discover what works perfectly for your head.
Cheers,
Red

yeah, its a skill that takes time.
did you learn to ride a bike without falling? its kind of like that.

COOLRAUL, take it easy man. Dont give up on the headblade just yet. It takes a few practice runs to get it right. MOST important thing to remember is: DO NOT APPLY PRESSURE TO THE BLADE AREA. Give it some time and you will be driving that headblade all over your head. Good Luck
-
thanks a lot guys. I needed that. I'm giving up yet, ;)

Sorry to hear about the bad shave, man. But like the bros are saying it takes a little practice to get technique down and even then an occasional cut might happen.
I don't use the headblade but know that it works well for many people. Lots of the guys here swear by it. So if you like the headblade, don't give up on it. However, at least for now you might consider using something like a mach3 (my blade of choice) for the "touch ups."
Hang in there man, and it'll come together.

Yeah. I've had some shaves like that. Just be careful, when you shave again tomorrow. Those nicks tend to stick up and get nicked again. It can be a vicious cycle.
I am new to the HeadBlade also and have found that I get nicked, when I try for the ultra-close, multipass shave. I cut the hell out of my head last week, doing that.
-
No matter how good you are with the HB.... you will cut yourself eventually. Usually happens to me when I don't take my time.

Thanks for the 'heads up' on the nicks :P
I'm glad I'm not the only who it's happend to. Tomorrow I'm not going to go for the ultra-close multipass shave. Just gonna take it easy and keep the passes to a minimum.
Thanks to all for the advice.

Sorry to hear that Raul. Remember slow and steady(pressure on the wheels) wins the race. Take your time and it DOES get much, much better

Just for a different point of view.
I tried and tried to use the HB but I was getting nicks all the time (2 or 3 a week) I used it for almost a month and then I got the worse cut I've ever gotten from a razor. I just knew when enough was enough!
I went back to my Mach III and then moved on to a Fusion Power. In nearly the same time I have not knicked my head once plus I get a much closer shave.
I know a lot of guys here will not agree with this but that's my story and I'm sticking to it!!
-
just use what ever you feel comfortable with. The only importance here is that when you are done, it's SMooth!, Slick!, and shiney!
-
I gave up on the Head Bklade and switched to the Fusiion. I haven't had a cut or nick since.
-
I've also never been nicked with the fusion, except for going too fast and catching the top of my ear. Bloody mess.

I with you on that. Ears bleed like crazy. I nicked my ear last month and it bled for a long time.
Quick story - when I was a kid, my barber cut the top of my ear really bad. I was playing football then and had practice that afternoon. Halfway through practice, the coach came running over to ask if I was okay. It turns out, that ear just wouldn't stop bleeding and blood had been running out of my helmet and all over my jersey. I was covered in blood. The cut was so deep that it took about a week, before it finally closed up and stopped bleeding.
I've tried to be careful around my ears, ever since that.
-
Oh boy, nicking the top of the ear always sucks. I actually had a pretty gruesome shave earlier, I nicked myself a couple of times as well. It was my own fault though, I didn't have enough growth to shave again. I plan on trying out the Quattro soon, I hear good things.
-
Like Timmj said, make sure to keep pressure off of the blades. You may also want to try a different blade on the HeadBlade.
-
hey raul: sorry 2 hear 'bout that. hope the next shave is a better one. whatever, U do..."don't" give up. there's nothing better than wearing a freshly scraped noggin'. O0

Without sounding contentious...
Some people do better with a Mach3, compared to a Headblade. Don't be afraid to try different razors out.

I've never tried the headblade but I am really pleased with the shave I get from my mach 3
