Man, I just bought myself a brush and can't believe how well it works!! I'm still shaving with Head Slick but I now use about a quarter of what I used when applying it!! Why wasn't SBG around when I made that choice? ;D After all these years of shaving I found THE FORUM and kept reading about brushes. Now I know I'll never shave without it!!If you haven't tried it bros.....trust me, it's well worth the money!!!!

I also discovered the shaving brush through this forum. Similar story to yours Gary. Had been using headslick and liked it; but the brush made a major difference.
Use a lot less of the product so probably saving money in the long run. Also, I'm told the brush acts as a mild exfoliant. Also, it just feels good, man.

I got that advice from Mike(Koz). Once he talked about how well it worked for him and I happened to read that post of his. Well I still use the brush and love it.
But please use a good brush. If you buy a cheap brush it will not do you any good. Buy a good shaving brush (anything less than $15 I would say is useless).

I just bought a cheap one because I wasn't at all sure of the idea. But even if only lasts a month I'll be satisfied. I paid 6 bucks for it at Rite Aid.

Thanks for the info Gary. I was debating whether or not to buy one, now i know.

I discovered the brush by accident. I had an old one that I hadn't used in many years in my shaving drawer. So one day in the shower and put some headSlick on it and took it to the dome. WOW! What a great feeling...... and as an added bonus, you don't have to reapply your shaving product to the brush.
Just grab the already foamy brush and run it over your head again!

So I bought my first brush today and just finished shaving. All I can say is wow. That thing is incredible, and very convenient. I was amazed on how neatly the lather was applied. It was like a meadow of HeadSlick on my dome. One of the best 5 bucks I've ever spent.

One of the best things I have gotten out of this site. Note: if you travel, a cake of shaving soap clears TSA w/o hassle of being liquid, and w/ the brush you're good to go.
-
You know, I have been debating whether or not to get one. I was just looking at one in CVS the other day. I figured it would be just another thing taking space in my cabinet.
Mike, your post made me realize it makes great sense to use one, since the cream or gel stays on the brush until you rinse it. Good for your second pass without squeezing out more product.
Going to pick one up today. Thanks for the tip. O0

That's true saintc, and I agree strongly. But you can get shave gel in the smaller can that is OK at the checkpoint.

i just got my panasonic linear wet/dry and my total shaving solution today in the mail so ill will be trying that method....will a brush help if i use total shaving solution(oil)?
-
I use a brush with a cake of locally made shaving soap, and a dab of mentholated headslick, the lather is pretty sweet!
-
Just when I think I have my reoutine all set--Iread about brushes here on SBG--got an inexpensive one from CVS today and used it--WOW! I can't believe how well that works!

Just when I think I have my routine all set
Lesson learned: The Quest for the perfect shave never ends, but the journey gets smoother. O:O

Yeah, my brush is definitely staying in the shaving arsenal. Gambrinus was right; I don't think I'll ever go back to aerosol cream or gel again! I use a cheap brush, Van der Hagen soap puck, and a dab of Headslick. I'll probably upgrade to a badger brush at some point. It doesn't get much better.
-
I used head slick with a few drops of king of shaves oil on top.... :@`

I'm a fan of Headslick and a cheap brush. (I'll probably look for a better one someday, or ask Mrs. Santa). I have not tried shaving oil yet. If you apply it after shower, and before Headslick, does it mess up your brush or make it a mess to rinse out?
-
Also would like a tip on when/how to apply oil. Right now I am now just using a Walgreen's brush and Headslick.

I put the oil down after the shower, then brush on and work up a lather w/ the HS, then spread it on dome & face--HS is great for face shaving and it's rarely mentioned.

I just put some headlick ad then some oil and the brush and it worked great....

That sounds like a plan, after all, it all winds up in a lather on the dome, and it does work great.

Thanks for this, guys. Heading home to give it a try before my meeting tonight.
