I've been lurking here for a few weeks now and felt I needed to thank everyone for helping me come to terms with hair loss. Whether it is justified or not, losing one's hair is about as traumatic as it can get for a man, but reading through your stories and seeing your transitions has made a huge impact on me.
I'm genuinely curious and excited about going sly. I've seen how so many guys here rock the look, and I'm hoping I've got a nice head underneath my starting-to-thin hair. I think it will be a few more years before I make it my permanent look (I still really like my hair, but I've accepted the writing-on-the-wall). You guys have talked me off the ledge though. Before I came here, I was considering drugs and surgery. Not anymore. When the time comes, I'm going to free myself.
So I apologize for not adding much in terms of discussion, but you guys need to know that this community has been a blessing for me, and I'm sure for others. You've got something special here. Thanks.

Hey! Welcome to the forum. Glad to hear we have put you off going down the route of taking drugs to keep your hair. When the time is right and you do the deed, post up a pic O0

welcome Blacksheep!! You still really like your hair.............you think I didn't like it? You think I'm happy that
I had to let it go? @c3
lol just joking bro. Whatever you do just don't let it come in your way of happiness. If you start seeing bald spots, having to do a combover, always afraid of what others are thinking of your thin hair then don't hesitate, shave it off!! The agony is not worth it. I hope you stick around even if you are not sly yet.

welcome blacksheep!
i'll second your thanks. this forum has helped me deal with this as well. i owe it much thanks.

Welcome Blacksheep. What part of Indiana are you from?

Thanks for the welcome guys.
Math Guy, the agony you mentioned really helped to convince me that bald was the way to go. I saw myself becoming a slave to my hair. I actually read a Hair Transplant board for a bit, and those guys were obsessed. It was kind of pathetic actually. Of course, seeing how good you guys all look was the final nail in the coffin. Even if I don't keep it shaved at first, I think I want to try out the sly look this summer.
Timmj, I'm originally from Ottawa, ON, but I've been in South Bend, IN for about 3 years. This summer, my girlfriend and I are uprooting again and heading to Madison, WI where I'll start 5 more years of school. Truthfully, I'm looking forward to the move. In my opinion, South Bend isn't a great place for young couple.

Hey Blacksheep,
Seems like the SBG Board is doing just what it needs to be doing for you.
BTW, Madison is a happening place.

Welcome. Summer is a good time to try it out--but 30 days, you may not want to go back.

Nope dude...no worries on the going SLY down the road...build up confidence...heck why not shave your head "just for kicks" this summer with a buddy...you know a lame bet or drunk talk or somethin'...
you'll see how good you look...get the anticipation out of your system...and grow you hair back after the deal...
or you might actually dig yourself with a shaved smooth bald head! ;) O0

Give it a try O0 Not many people regret it, and most keep it! 8)
