our studies show that 3 out of 4 woman say the first thing they notice on a guy is his hair. buy this shampoo, blah blah blah
damnit! lol
i swear people love rubbing hairloss in to us sly guys. they make it seem like bald is such a bad thing. the negativity needs to stop.
-
that is just a biased opinion to promote their product. ask 20 women. i bet all of them would say bald is better than balding. some women like bald guys, some don't. but i bet they would all prefer a guy that is confident in himself. hair or not.

Ghost, Was that the Gillette or the Axe one? I hate them both.
-
AXE i believe.
-
They are just mad, because, we don't need their stupid shampoo!

Just about every commercial out there boils down to "Use our product, get laid". It can only bother you if you let it.

It really shocks me to see the length that people go to, to make money. There is so much propaganda in the hair restoration market just to gain money of men's fear of hair loss. I saw an Ad yesterday on tv that showed a girl running her hair through a guys hair and then a bald dude came up to them and said hi, then they ignored him and laughed at him as he walked away!

It's all marketing, most young guys have hair/willing to pay to ensure they have "good" hair.
Us young bald guys, we're the minority. Or another perspective...unique

ya and the funny thing is thats not even what happens in real life. at least not 90% of the time.

It defiantly boils down to making money and marketing. See that ridiculous commercial for sham wow yeah like it could soak up soda and the bottom of the carpet be totally dry with fibers that are still dry laying on the counter. I think that we all have less weight on out brains so we are smarter! so we don't pick the phone up and buy buy buy!!! hahahhaa

OK, Listen up GHOST! How often do you hear of stories , not on a tv ad, but in real life, about any women saying things about a guys hair? I always hear people saying I want to touch his bald head for good luck or I have just never felt a bald head before can I touch it? I do not hear stories of Oh wow Look at his Hair! CAN I TOUCH IT? WOW What do you use for shampoo? ( i always hear wow, what do you use to shave that with? do you wax it? do you buff it?) I do not ever hear that about guys who HAVE hair. DO YOU?

You nailed it right there double B
Ghost I think you waste too much of your energy worrying about these things, almost like you are still unhappy with the fact that you are loosing your hair. I think that you need to be comfortable with who you are as a person, and forget about your hair loss.
You look good with a shaved noggen now act like it brother, go out with the attitude that you are a confident good looking guy, women can sense insecuraty.

Okay, so there's this average looking SLY guy in a bar...
Then there's this guy with luxurious hair, shining and full, with a snotty nose, a spare tyre round his middle, greasy beard, spots covering his face and food dropped down his shirt. He wipes his nose across his sleeve and farts as he stands up... :px
Is the guy with hair gonna get more women just because he's got hair?? :/O
If a woman notices a man's hair first, then she'll notice his smooth shiny dome first too, and then she'll realise: no contest. 8)

You are absolutely right mate. Its the complete package of a man that women are interested in. Most of the parts of the package are just fundamental things...you just need the attitude and confidence to go along with it. If you still aren't comfortable with your hair loss, then don't make it your defining characteristic! What else do you have to offer?

I've seen that Axe commercial. It's pretty funny. I used to wish stuff like that would happen, but that was when I was 15 years old.
Remember the beer ads from the 70s and 80s that basically said, "if you drink X-Brand Lite, you'll be buff with 24" biceps and have a hot supermodel for your girlfriend"? Because how could they sell the beer if they showed a bunch of fat-guys in dirty wifebeaters hanging out in a garage and drinking that beer with no women to be seen. For miles.
How else can they sell their product to their target market? I have always liked the ad in the following youtube clip (I can't figure out how to post an embedded video clip). It's the Nivea body wash for men - check the attitude of the boys interviewed (I'm sure they're actors, but it's still hilarious).

I LOVE not having to buy shampoo, especially stupid expensive faux-medical thickening shampoos and products.
And not buying all that crap is more than enough to offset the cost of razors and shave gel.
-
Well, I haven't seen that as I don't ever watch TV, but I still see the ads everywhere. Really though, it's like Timm said. I usually laugh when I see ads like that though, and sometimes its a good thing. Just the other day I was in London and I had to go in to a Shoppers Drug Mart to get some new blades. It just so happened that the one I went in was near Western U and it has the highest ratio of women to men O0(for those interested in a place to study it'd be a good one). So I walk in and the shaving products are in the same aisle as the shampoos. I'm walking down the aisle and I pass the shampoos as there are a few women looking at all the different ones and I chucked under my breath. I grabbed the razors and turned around to head back out and there were the 3 or 4 women giggling and trying not to look at me as I walked by. Obviously they must have heard me laugh as I walked past the shampoo. I just grinned at them, held up the razors, shrugged and kept on going.
I was in a rush to head to the hospital to see a friend who just had surgery so I wasn't thinking of stopping, but I'm sure I could have done it and easily chatted them up, then who knows what could have happened. Would that happen to a guy with a full head of hair going in to buy some shampoo and conditioner? Would he be able to use that to start up a conversation? "Uhh, excuse me ma'am, which of these conditioners would give my hair the best silky smooth shine?" I bet the womens reactions would be quite a bit different for him.

You need to look at that in a different light. They are soo vain that they are stuck on their hair, and these companies know that so they are going to milk these vain people out of everything they can. So who is the real winner here??

Yeah, I completely agree with all comments above. It's basically what advertisment is about "Buy our stuff our you will die lonely and miserable. We have studies that show it's true."
The medias try to convince people that they need hair to a have normal life, just like they convince teenage girls they have to look like coat hangers to be attractive. Fortunately, the reality is different.
