I'm new to the site, and wanted to introduce myself. I'm 46 years old, and I too have MPB. I have been buzzing my hair for years ( usually a #2), but last week I went to a #1. Other than the pale skin, I really like it. I want to go fully sly, but I have not quite got the nerve yet. Anyway, this is a great site and you guys seem to be pretty cool. Looking forward to visiting more often.

Hey fencer! Welcome to SBGs. Your have taken a big step going to the #1 buzz. We are here to support you and help you in any way we can. Of course, most of us would not be disappointed if you jumped the fence and found yourself in the land of the bald. ;D

Welcome to the community, in a little time you will see how nice the air on the scalp feels :)
-
Welcome go ahead and do it. If you dont like it it will grow back in a couple of days.
-
welcome!

Welcome, Fencer ~ If you've got the urge, you've got to splurge.....
....and scrape the dome! There's no feeling like smooth and SLY! You're almost there with a short buzz, but believe me, there IS a difference!
-
sounds like you're barely hanging on to that fence... stick around here a little while, and you'll let go.

Welcome, Fencer

Welcome to the Forum Fencer!
Now do your best Humpty Dumpty and get down off of that fence and shave off that little hair you have left!!
-
Welcome fencer
If i was you I would do it. Just remember that if you don't like it it will grow back to your buzz cut in not that much time. Read up in the shaving tips and techniques forum an give it a shot. When you do post up a pic.

Welcome fencer, jump off that fence and join the sly side, you won't regret it.

Welcome fencer!

Thanks, guys for the warm welcome! Unfortunately, I have a bit of a situation. My wife (who is very supportive and likes the close buzz) pointed out to me last night my birthmark is in my hairline. It is a bit "raised", and there is a possibility it might get cut, or just simply look weird. I am totally fine with the buzz, if that is "as far as I can go." As I mentioned, the wife likes the buzz; she's says it is ME!
Thanks for listening!

Welcome to SBG's fencer, good to have you join us.
I will echo the other bro's and suggest you give the shave a try, at least once.
If you don't like it and find it hard to keep from cutting the birthmark, then it will be just a few days to grow it back out to a #1 buzz.
I think you will end up liking it though, and then you can decide how to handle dealing with the trouble spot.
Good luck, and keep us posted. O0

Just go for it! It sounds like you are close anyway, so people won't really notice the difference and you will like not having to mess with hair.
-
Welcome bro O0
-
welcome: come down of that fence and try shaving it: you might just like it, and then you'll have the answer O0
-
Welcome fencer! It appears that you're almost there. Go ahead and do it. Like others have said, if you don't like it, you'll be back to a #1 in several days.
-
Welcome, you're at the right place O0. I can relate to the #1 buzz, but for me the temptation to try the fully monty was just too much so after 3 days I went to the bone O:O. I have a couple of imperfections--memorials of two basal cell skin cancer removals and although they are slightly elevated (you can see one on my current avatar), the Fusion blade hasn't ever nicked either of them. As you've already heard, a #1 is about a week's worth of hair from sly, so obviously going the next step isn't too hard to recover from if after thirty days sly you have any desire to do so--the overwhelming majority of guys don't. While buzzed the mpb progresses and you can see it. It still goes on sly, it just can't be seen. It's the ultimate haircut--fresh every day! Try it, you'll like it.

I truly appreciate the warm wecome! I believe (due to the aforementioned birthmark), I am going to stay with the #1 buzz (for now!!). My wife has already started looking in to options for "taking care" of the birthmark area. Due to skin cancer history, this is the precaution we are taking. My wife wants me to shave it because she really likes the look! (We both do!) I told you she was supportive!

Well, I'm not a fencer anymore! I did it! Last night with a Mach III and Crown Royal, I scraped it off! I know what you guys mean about the numb feeling. That is awesome. I'm still not quite sure if I like it or if I will leave it, but I have NO regrets! I always wanted to try it, and now I have!
-
Fantastic, isn't it. You've beaten MPB. Post up a picture so everyone can see that shiny new dome in the neighborhood. O0
-
Congrats, bro.
-
Congratulations for 'scratchin' the itch'! O0 awesome feelin isnt it? 8)

Congratulations, Fencer!
You're going to have to do something about that name, by the way, considering you're no longer on the fence! And yeah that numb scalp feeling (I called it Numb Skull) is pretty strange but doesn't last too long.
Post up any questions or fire off a PM if you need tips or technique help.
