hello fellow chrome domes: i recently joined a gym about 3 weeks ago. i go atleast 3-4 times a week. i work out with the various weight machines, hit the treadmill, & do abs. i've been doing this for 3 straight weeks 2 improve my "healthier" lifestyle. and so far...i'm loving it. matter of fact, i feel guilty when i don't go 2 the gym. anyways... i was just wondering what exercise that U hate doing but do anyway. i'll start: i hate doing "abs". i know it's part of my routine but i can't stand it. >:(
so... how 'bout U? do U exercise? R U a member of a gym? if so... what exercise do U hate doing? what's your story?

Long distance running on the treadmill or outside on a track. I have to do it to stay in shape but I hate it. I don't mind sprints though.
-
Warhawk and all others, doesn't it make sense, if you don't like it you haven't done enough of it. Not to pain, but to gain. Get into the zen of those "I don't like" exercises, they are the ones you need. Those who cheat in the gym, cheat in life--don't cheat on yourself.
-
I hate working out my legs, but I force myself to do it.
-
Cardio! except for hitting the heavy bag,I hate doing cardio >:(
-
Treadmill or stationary bikes--Boring!!!
-
abs
-
Without a question it has to be abdominal exercise of any kind! I am currently preparing for my first bodybuilding show in April, but I still hate working abs!
-
I actually dislike stretching before exercising. I am not very flexible, but I do it anyway. Safety first!
-
Hey Warhawk...as a personal trainer its good to hear you are going to the gym regularly! working out becomes so much better when you enjoy your workouts and can't wait to get into the gym, instead of just feeling guilty when you miss a session. It comes with seeing results i guess...And yes, i hate legs and abs! Although if you want to gain muscle up top, you need to work your legs...sounds weird i know...but it works!
-
Stretching & abs.
I know they're both good for me, but it doesn't change the fact I hate 'em.
My favorite form of exercise is running, though I'm still limited because of a bad hamstring.
I plan on hitting the pool for lap workouts this summer.
-
hack squats and work with kettle bells ( the new rage).
-
Lunges! I hate lunges! Not sure why, I have very strong legs and do 400+ lbs on the leg press, but I always despise the lunges.
-
Legs and abs. Abs kill me. But I do em. I feel great when I come out the gym, BUT GUYS DO I HATE THOSE ABS! :Xo!
-
running a track. if i run on a treadmill or just outside, im fine. but running a track just about kills me with boredom.
-

Hey Dan!
When you compete in the bodybuilding show, you ought let your sly brethren have look at you at your best! It could be a great inspiration for more of us to get in shape or better shape!

Most guys hate leg exercises.
-
I don't mind legs at all in weight training, but ellipitical training--that really dogs me out. I dread getting into the damn thing, I'm glad when my self-imposed sentence is over, but it is so much more effective than the stationary or seated bicycle. I have a real chore to find my "zen" on it--but I continue to search.
-
LOVE working legs....LOVE working abs
DO NOT LIKE PULL-UPS.....but I still do them under the mantra that they are a 'man's excercise'
HATE BURPEES
-
ABS, ABS for god sake the ABS!!! anything else NP
-
Abs can be a bit boring, but I have over 20 different exercises I can do to keep things spicy. I really hate the burn of training biceps. I'd rather do a set of 20 rep squats than a set of preacher curls. I think my biceps were lagging during my last show because of this :-\

I never minded any of the stuff that happens in the gym but I do hate running, I only run when chased and that doesn't happen often

Forgot about running. Jogging is the worst for me. I worked up to a mile a couple months ago and it tore up my body. I had shin-splints, my knees were hurting and lower back was all screwed up.
What I do like is sprinting. The body is made to sprint/run, not jog. It's a killer workout too. :x!

any running sucks :/O if I have to run they can kick my a$$

Running and shoulders. What's funny is that my cousins are world class runners...I didn't get that gene.

I dont kno of anyone who likes excersising period. Altho there is one good excersise, and it takes next to no phisical activity to do. It's called cook a good meal, use fresh ingredients, something that tastes good plus healthy at the same time and eat!! The healthier you eat, the less excersise you need to do!!!!! LOL ROFL! Then after eating take a nice bike ride to work off the calories!! I kno I am a big guy and people may say I am full of it, but I dont work out often at all, but since getting into my own place and making my own meals, I have found myself to be loosing a few pounds here and there.
-
it also helps to drop a big deuce after a big meal too ;D. that shaves another 10 lbs off the diet haha.

I see we must have a Ron White Comedian Fan here on sly bald guys lol. If you dont kno who he is, he made a joke simmilar to what you just said, except, he said "Has anyone ever had a turd so big there pant's fit better? I'm hoping to have one of those later on tonight, cause these baby's dont fit anymore. Ya i'm one big turd away from backing into a new wardrobe!"
ROFL!!
If you never seen this guy, get the Ron White: They Call Me Tater Salad DVD. Funny sh*t!

I hate nearly all pulling exercises like lat workouts and pull-ups. I much prefer pushing exercises.
I also dislike running on a treadmill, and any exercise that involves moving a lot of plates in order to setup activity. Yea, yea, I know, the gym isn't the place to be lazy.
-
I don't like rowing machines for some reason. Most other machines and exercises I can stand.
-
deadlifts.
i used to love them, but i changed the routine to just one set of 100lbs to absolute failure. man, thats worse than picking up 4-500lbs!
i usually rip off 40 plus. plus the weight doesnt touch till im done. about 4 inches below my knee to straight up [not lockout, which is a reason why people get bad backs from deads eventually] is my range.
got the idea from the 300 workout a few years ago. Gerard Butler did 150 50 times a day, every damned day. once a week is fine for me lmfao.
not a member of a gym, never have been. i work out in my bedroom in an area so small i have to step outside to blink. got a bench, dumbbells, barbell, and a couple hundred pounds of weight.
-
Pullups
Any other exercise that involves pulling weight instead of pushing
Running on a treadmill
-
Pushing away from the table--it's one of the best and so f'ing hard to do!
-
Any exercise for abs. Other than PULL-UPS. Yes, they do work abs too! Pull-ups are something I absolutely love doing. I used to hate dips, but now I do them.
Oh, and french curl a.k.a. skull-crusher, it sucks.
-
DEADLIFTS = ouchie on my back. Just cant seem to do them a hundred percent correctly and always end up in pain for days haha.
Im lucky enough to have work provide us with a free gym here at the Sheriffs Dept.
-

Agreed! Push aways are tough. ;)
Any exercise for abs.
I will second that! For me it would be planks.
-
12 oz. curls! Gawd, I hate them. But I do them because I know that they are good for me. B33r

My tattoo artist actually recommended dead lifts for my lower back pain, since I've started doing them I have had none. You should get someone to watch your form, brother.

Now those, I could do all day long...

pull ups. I can't seem to do more that 3 or 4 of them and it frustrates the hell outta me!
of course, I'm just getting started. ;D
-
I love it all Hawk! The only thing I could say I hate doing it is the treadmill, but I like running outside (I like seeing a change of scenery and to feel like I'm going somewhere, although the scenery inside the gym is often great too!).
Sidenote: It's really hilarious how the gyms always fill up this time of year, I'm just waiting another few weeks til those resolutioners drop out. But if you are one of those ones, stick to it! It will improve your energy, health and confidence!
-
Squats! >:(

Yeah, the NY resolution people--ever notice how as they slack off, they spend more and more time jabbering, so you have to keep asking how much longer their going to keep their fat a$$es on the equipment? ;D ;D ;D
-
Oh, Good Mornings. I can't do them without feeling like I'm gonna fall over. They exercise your lower back. I just get the lower back when I do deadlifts.
-
I hate high rep squats, but adore heavy squats.
-
BaldPeter, you so crazy! You changed your screen name!
-
BaldPeter, you so crazy! You changed your screen name!
Yes sir! It was time for a change.
-
At the moment squats and lunges are not my friends but I grit my teeth and push through it. After 2 months of working out my body shape is changing nicely, without me having to do anything too extreme... just need to sustain this effort rather than slipping back into old habits.
-
i despise cardio. but i need to do it nonetheless :(
-
It's more of a love/Hate
Squats : because if you can do only one type of lift this is it
Deadlifts
Push Ups : As of lately my push ups have declined because of a bum shoulder and bicep.
-
Least favorite is stretching
-
I read this post and let out a big sigh. :-[
The past 8 months have been extremely tough for me. My work schedule has been extremely demanding. This, coupled with the fact I'm extremely involved with my kids' sports schedules (not complaining, mind you) has left me with very little time to dedicate to my physical regimen. Still, at age 43 and 6' tall, 210 lbs, I'm in better shape than most men my age. However, it's very frustrating considering the level I've maintained for many many years. I committed to run in a half marathon in one month that (I believe) is a qualifier for other top national races. Although I could participate, I've told a buddy of mine (elite runner) to run in my spot because 1) it's sold out 2) he's not entered and 3) it's not worth it for me considering where I'm at in my training.
I hate to think of myself as "over the hill", but I'm leaning towards just doing what I can to stay in shape without my normal running routine. This is going to have to include reducing my caloric intake. I love running, and love the finer foods (and adult beverages) in life. However, I have to be realistic.
IT SUCKS GETTING OLD! :(
-
Favorite is walking (treadmill)
Least favorite - nearly everything else!
My mantra is "why settle for a six pack when you can have a keg!" :D
-
Favorite -- None
Least Favorite -- All that are not mentioned above
Unless it comes in a 12 ounce can to do curls with.
Walking or running makes my legs ache and my knees hurt.
Best way to avoid that is to follow my favorites listed above.
My dear Ex walked and walked and ended up having hip replacement and knee surgery.
Me, I cut down on eating, which I like, and I drink more Light Beer.
Now, I'm sure that everyone who has read this far, will say 'he's a loony, BUT, I went from 185 to 160 pounds doing nothing more than watching what I, actually the wife watches what I eat, and trying to avoid exercise that makes me hurt.
I'm 65 years old as of yesterday, and feel better than I think I ever have.
Now, where did I sit that can of beer, so I can get my curl routine going again?
-
hack squats.
-
Actually, I am on the Fitness Enhancement Program for the Navy. I've always struggled throughout my career with the mandatory weigh-ins and now I'm on ithe mandatory program for the 2nd time in 20 years. In short, I'm too fat for the Navy.
This is kind of ironic because there is no way for me to get off it prior to the next Fitness Test since I will be out of the Navy in a month...but I am still required to attend the exercise sessions in the meantime...
-
Push-ups, and probably squats ( since the height ). If I do ever join the service, I'd make-sure not display any disobedience, because the push-ups are murder for me.
-
One thing i hate working is the stomach. Can do curls and shoulder exercises until the cows come home, but absolutely loath doing sit ups.
