Hi everyone! My name is Kent I live in Utah I'm 22 almost 23 years old and I've got a nice patch of thinning hair on the top of me head that extends all the way up to my forehead. I've shaved my head for about 4 weeks, I even made sure that I shaved it everyday and all but it was a little harder for me to do on account of I've had multible brain surguries. So there are a lot of scars up there on my dome. I've come here looking for an easier way to keep the head smooth but without a razor. It takes alot of time to try and carefully shave around those scars and get all the hair off. Out of curiosity has anyone tried Nair? Thanks all! -Kent

hey kent: welcome 2 the sly fraternity. glad that ya joined us. 1st of all...stay away from the NAIR. NAIR is not intended 4 use of the head. it will cause red rashes and bumpy red lesions on the scalp. it will also make your noggin' irritated & itchy. we had a member try it out & he showed the after pics of his "ruined" noggin. again... memo 2 U & anyone that wants 2 try NAIR on the dome: just say no!!! btw... we hope that U become an active member of the best forum on the internet.

Welcome to SBG Kent !! I echo WARHAWKS advice about the Nair, stay away from it. If the scars are too bad for a regular razor or Headblade you might want to consider a good electric to start with.....just a suggestion. Again welcome !! O0

Welcome Kent, great to have you with us. I have never tried Nair but I did try one of the off the shelf products designed for hair removal on the head. It not only did a very poor job of it but you can not reapply for 24 hours if it DOES leave hair behind. In addition, it caused skin irritation. Check out the various posts under Head Shaving and see if there is a routine or products there that may make the shaving easier for you.

Welcome to the SBG Family Kent,
The advice already given reguarding "Nair" is 100% Correct, please stay away from it. I speak from experiance, I did try it once and boy what a mistake the burning sensation was unbareable. I didn't even give it a chance to see if it would work (which it didn't), I had to wash it off quickly, because the pain was intense.
You may not be able to go totaly smooth, since it's difficult to use a blade, but you may be able to try a good electric. I know that there are other members on this site that have used them.
Please make yourself at home here.

Welcome aboard, Kent. Good to have you here.
I think I'd go the electric razor route.

Kent, welcome to SBG's, good to have you with us.
I will echo the bro's as well; No nair!, it's not meant for the head.
As far as the shaving, maybe you could try keeping it at a very low buzz, which would be either a 0 or no guard on the trimmer.
For help on the scars, maybe our bro Marty can be of help with some ideas. Definitely check out the posts in the headshaving section though.
Good luck and let us know how it goes. O0
