Hey guys... I have the day off work and it is almost 70 degrees outside. Sounds like a great day to be outside having fun. However... I am at home sitting in a chair with my feet elevated.
You see. I went to the urologist this morning and had a vasectomy. Yes... The big "V". It just came to the point in life where we weren't planning on having any more kids and my wife was having some problems with meds that she was taking.
It was really pretty painless. Now I am just trying to take it easy to make sure the recovery goes well.
If any other guys have been through this and have any advice, let me know. I'd like to know what your stories are.

I'm in Orlando right now and it's beautiful here also....suppose to be in the mid 70's the rest of the week after today.....never had the big V but since I don't have a prostate anymore no need for one....lol.....get well soon..... from the guys I know that have gotten one , they never experienced any problems after...... O0
-
hey a good healing for you buddy!!! O0
i can't tell anything about it. i still need to get my work done.
-
Hope your recovery continues to proceed w/o incident. Never had it done, but my life and that of my wife would require the help of three guys on three camels to do anymore--but then there was a story on the news today about a 60 year old woman with twins--didn't know anyone was still that dumb at that age. Love my kids, but I'd go nuts, looney toons, if I had any young ones other than grandchildren now. Anyway, good luck, enjoy a new kind of clipped freedom from worry >:D >:D >:D >:D, since you've already clipped the hair. Hope your wife is well.

That kinda how I feel. I love my kids and wouldn't want to do without them. But I honestly couldn't imagine having anymore at this point in my life. So far this has been a pretty easy and painless procedure. Hopefully I wll say the same thing in the morning.

Considering the "area in question" I hope you have a speedy recovery. I need to have it done myself. Wife and I have been pretty darn fortunate that we have not had an unplanned pregnancy.

There really isn't much to it and it is pretty cheap insurance. And a bonus is you can milk it and be waited on for a couple of days by the wife. >:D

Whats your projected recovery time?

Sly -- two words: ICE PACKS.

I really haven't had any pain. I took some tylenol when I got home. The doc game me a prescription for some pain meds but I haven't needed them. He said to keep my feet up today. I can do light activity tomorrow and just take it easy for the next week.

Actually I have been using frozen vegables. It works better than an ice pack. lol
Just don't come to our house for Stir Fry any time soon. lol

Ha! Once those defrost, substitute with beers!

Take it easy, keep the ice on and enjoy a little TV. Had mine done on a Friday and was back at work the following Monday. You'll be fine I'm sure. Here's to a speedy recovery!
-
Hope the Brat & Potatoes are good to go soon, Rick.
Wait, I didn't think they had vegetables in KC...Oh yeah, frozen.
-
I had mine 5 years ago. Was back at work on Monday. A little sore but no real pain.
Frozen peas are perfect, they act like a frozen bean bag kind of. Be careful getting up and down from a sitting position. When things shift with gravity, you will definitely know they are there. My wife waited on me for the weekend. She was the best.
Also, not to get to much info here, but boxers and vasectomies don't really get along to well. If you don't have any traditional "tighty whities" get a couple of pair. You'll be fine in a couple of days.
-
you can milk it
I didnt think you could do that right away?????
-
hey rick: hope U have a fast & uneventful recovery. O0
WARHAWK O0

Had mine done 7 years ago. Rest for a few days. You will be fine. And as was mentioned earlier, get some tight fitting underwear for support - this is not the time to be "letting it all hang out". I have a mate who is absolutely terrified to go and get it done. Big woose!

If it was the best thing for your family situation.... I bet you would.

Sly,
Been there, done that. :XX
Ice is your friend. ;)
Personally, I'd keep a low profile and be a couch potato for the weekend; that way there is NO CHANCE of upsetting or straining anything. I've heard the horror stories of guys who do too much too soon and develop "issues". :o
FYI for anyone who needs an ice pack that forms to your body (like a shoulder or knee, etc.), get a large bottle of Kayro syrup (costs a couple of bucks) and pour it into a gallon size zip lock bag, then bag it again (double bagged) and put it in the freezer. O0
When you need to ice a body part, use the frozen Kayro bag. It works better than most any fancy ice pack out there. Besides, you don't want to chance ruining your bag of frozen peas! :/O
-
as long as the peas are in a plastic bag, why wouldnt you be able to use them afterwards???

I aint comin to your house for dinner Timm if there is even a remote chance that the peas were round your nuts :D

Leave it to Timmay to come up with this, lol. I seriously dont think you would like the "outcome" of this one, Rick. :D :o

I do not understand the last comment.

I don't think I would like the outcome if we follow-up on the comment anymore. :/O

Hey Rick-
Hope you're "back in action" soon.... wasn't the abstinence thing working for you? :*))

I've always wondered... after everything is healed up and you're back in action, can you tell a difference in anything?
-
I haven't. Everything works like it always has.

That seems to be the case so far. Just 2 little scars for a reminder.

Glad to hear everything is good with you. Those little scars will fade over time. Guys with the "Big V" have a higher risk of epdidemitis. So, if you expereince any acute pain get in touch with your doctor quick.

No difference at all buddy! O0
