I've not been to CC since the announcement, but I was planning to go there to check out the laptops as my Mom is looking for one.

I'm really sad about CC going out of business. I've been a loyal customer for many years and have always chosen them over the competition.  Oh well, another victim of the financial meltdown....

The people who work at the circuit city here will ignore you when you walk in the door if someone behind you is dressed better. I've walked in dressed nicely but casual and have a salesperson make a b line for the rich looking guy behind me. It's happened countless times. I guess they are going for the sales commission. That's why I stopped shopping there a few years ago. I do feel sorry for all those people losing their jobs though.

I agree with Danny.... customer service at CC has always been a problem. A year ago I went in to buy a new receivcer with surround sound and a set of Polk surround sound speakers. I already knew what I wanted because I researched on line.
I went in the store in the middle of the afternoon and was the only customer in the store. I couldn't find anyone to wait on me. After about ten minutes of hanging around, coughing, whistling, and singing I actually walked into the back office area where all the employees were sitting goofing off and asked if anybody could help me.

The only reason I didn't walk out because they were clearing out the speakers that I wanted and they were on sale for about 40% of their original price.

Warhawk I feel the same way. I have been stopping by cc every few days. So far the deals on flat screens are crap >:(
I think they are going to wait for the last possible minute before they really drop prices. I can`t believe the fools that are buying tvs at cc now.If everyone would hold out they would have to drop the prices.

There was a piece on liquidators recently on a news show that documented that when the liquidators move in, prices not only don't necessarily go down, they go up :x!.  Before going to CC now, make sure you know the prices for stuff at BestBuy and Office Depot.

I believe that one of the reasons they are going out of business is due to their poor business practices.  I know that I and a family member purchased different products from them that had substantial rebates promised.  Promises which they never fullfilled.   Even with having a nephew working for the company brought no results and we never received the rebates checks we were due.

DANNY, if you have a problem with the cr...y service and quit going there because of it , WHY do you feel bad about them losing their jobs ? The C...Y service and such IS why they are losing their jobs ! IF they gave GOOD service at good prices  they WOULDNT be losing $$$$$ and therefore having to close ! the employee's are the reason MOST retail sales companys go under they walk around like THEY are doing YOU a FAVOR waiting on YOU and then wonder WHY  :o nobody comes BACK to the store ?  Most times people will pay a LITTLE more for a product/service IF the sales person makes them feel "special" and wanted.  O0

When Circuit City was going out of business I bought 12 linear feet of their wall shelving and put it in my warehouse.  It's great stuff and strong as an ox.  I even left the Circuit City advertising on it.

But I'm kinda glad to see Circuit City go.  They wasted millions in the mid 90s with their bastardized twist on the DVD format called Divx.  Their format required you to rent the ability to view a disc in your collection by having the Divx machine handle the transaction with an internal modem.  It was an awful idea and it added marketplace confusion which harmed the initial adoption of the DVD format.

Walmart will never fall. They are far too ruthless.
