Warhawk ~ I've used Pacific and Shave Secret -- both alone without any other products. My current fave is SS, because it seems to offer more lubrication to the blade than Pacific does for me. SS wins in the price battle, too. But Pacific is nice stuff. If the clove scent of SS is a bit much for you, you'll find Pacific more enjoyable to use. I'm certainly hooked on oils instead of lathers.

That's interesting. I actually found the opposite. I found that Pacific offered a more slick oil than SS. SS seemed to gunk up my razor more as well. I'm not saying either of us is right, just that it's interesting that we came to different conclusions.

I've tried Pacific, but I prefer Total Shaving Solution from All About Shaving. Based on the reviews here on Sly, I'm going to track down and try Shave Secret next.
The Pacific has a very slight sudsiness to it, which I didn't like.

Hi Tyler -- It is funny just how differently the various potions work for everyone. I was hooked on Baby Oil for months, and think it gave me a perfect shave -- but it increased my tendency to break out -- it was just too oily. So I shifted to SS & Pacific. To me, the SS has a feeling of higher viscosity than Pacific. I use Atra doubles in my HB and have never had any gunk problem w/ any shave oils.

I have used PSO for years and have never had a problem. Consistently good (read close) shaves. Recommend it very highly.
-
I've been there, and done it. It's a good product. But steer clear of any oil
during the warmer months when I'm prone to breakouts.
-
Gunna give them both a try, I have not used oils and I am interested in experimenting.

It could be the blades that give us different results. I use the sensor blades which don't have has much space between them as the atra blades, therefore they are more prone to clogging.

Well, all this talk about Pacific Shave Oil made me want to try it again. So I dusted off the Pacific bottle yesterday and gave it another try. Hmmmm. I liked it so well I used it again today. Both extremely close shaves -- definitely as good as I get w/ SS. I'm liking it now better than I thought!

hello fellow chrome domes: i've tried the PACIFIC shaving oil this morning. i used it under the BALDGUYZ shaving gel. the head shave was excellent. i'm going 2 add this 2 my arsenal. i plan on switching back & forth with the SS oil. i always use a shaving oil under the HEADSLICK or BG shaving gel.
pros: natural ingredients
smells gr8 (very light citrus scent)
very smooooooth shave
cons: it is not sold here in beautiful pensacola >:(
the price ($6.95) a little pricey compared 2 the SS but definitely worth it
had 2 purchase it via the internet.
all in all... the PACIFIC shaving oil gave a gr8 shave. i only wished that it was sold in my area. if U have any thoughts of trying this product... U won't B disappointed. O0

I love the stuff and I use it religiously, it makes my shaves way easier and I can shave day to day without zero irritation...I'm gonna buy one of the big bottles as soon as I run out of the little stuff.

WOW, - in the 1/2 oz packs that comes to $222.40 a pound! But a real "bargain" in the 2 ounce bottles, only $183.60 a pound! With out shipping added, of course.
That stuff must really be some super stuff for that cost!
And I thought Carmex was really expensive. (Carmex junkie here)
I use just good ol' Neutrogena light Sesame Body oil. Works well, smells good, can use it on the body too, wife uses it, so I started using it a couple years ago. It never clogs a Headblade or any of the Mach 3s or Turbos. And at about $12 to $13 for a 12 ounce bottle, at real bargain, comparatively speaking.
And it's great for those evening back, and body rubs the wife is so fond of. Hummmm, me too.

: 6 pack $ 39.00
: 12 pack $ 75.00
2 ounce bottle : single $ 22.95
: 3 pack $ 66.00

Like SS said, it lasts a LONG time! As shaving oils go, Pacific Shaving makes my favorite. I'm now interested in trying out the shave cream.
-
I'll cast my vote for PSO. I buy the 3 pack and it lasts forever.

Tyler, there headquarters is 45 minutes away from us...we should bother them for a couple cans of there cream for a review and for the record, Pacific shaving oil makes the best shaving product I've ever used, being that I have a tough beard that can literally break a blade on and really sensitive skin its makes it a joy to actually shave.

I'll contact them and see if we can get a tour. For some reason I thought they were in Oregon.

For those of you who use this along with a shaving cream (e.g. HeadSlick) ... can you please explain why do you do that? Less irritation? Closer shave? Fewer bumps? All of the above? And do you wait X minutes after applying the oil (before you using shaving cream) or do you immediately then put shaving cream on?
I'm continuing to look for the perfect combination and am just curious as to why I'd effectively double-up on products before shaving. I'm pretty happy with my current setup (Parker 86R, HeadShed, HeadSlick) but it could always be improved and I do consistently fight bumps at my hairline. Thanks for any feedback.

Thanks for the review warhawk. I only use headslick but all the comments on oils have me interested.

Hream : All of the above, no need to wait, Pacific shave works great as a standalone.
