I simply pour some in my hand and rub it on my head and let it dry, just like using aftershave !! O0

Well I was trying that,, but always seemed like I was using too much, big bottle was cheap,, but going fast. That was when I started playing around,, and found the sprayer idea worked for me. I think the sprayer cost $.75 or so.

Sprayer's a good way to go with any tonic whether it be witch hazel, alcohol or if u have a liquid aftershave. You end up not using as much.

Never heard of storing it in the fridge Mel, what does that do??
-
hey brkeatr: storing the witch hazel in the fridge gives a better feel on the noggin' & the coolness will close the pores better. thus making your dome feel good & keeping U smoooooother longer. O0

Does the witch hazel make your dome shiny?
-
I use the cheap witch hazel from WalMart and just use the top to a squirt bottle to dispense the right amount in my hand. I don't go without it. It is a must for any headshaver.

Thanks Mel, I will try that out !! O0
I don't think it makes the dome shiny it's just an astringent that shrinks the pores up when your done shaving.....I always apply Nivea balm when I am done shaving and that gives a nice shine... O0

I splash some on my dome when I was shaving today.I found it very refreshing. I will be adding it to my routine O0
-
hey cam: 2 answer your question, the witch hazel doesn't make your dome shiny.

I picked some up at the store tonight, so I'm going to give it a go tomorrow. Do you use it along with Headlube or something? Or just by itself?

hey cam: U apply the witch hazel after your headshave. 1st do the cold water rinse, ice cube rub, pat dry, and apply the witch hazel. keep it stored in the fridge 2 give it a better "cooling" feel 2 the dome. thanks... brkeatr 4 the wikipedia info on the witch hazel. O0

I used to use it when I first started shaving, and it really helped on the irritation. I just held my head over the sink and sqirted it all over my noggin, then rubbed it in. Don't use it any more though.

I first started using Witch Hazel when I first went Sly (thanks to the sage advice of Warhawk!) I have a sprayer (which works great) and I also have some in a salad dressing jar (the kind you buy for a couple of bucks and use for vinegar and oil, with the small little opening on top). I use them interchangeably as the mood dictates. After my shower/shave I towel dry. Following that comes the Witchy treatment. Brush my toofesus, then go for the Lube. In the summer I keep some in the fridge. Boy howdy!
-
I bought CVS brand,, (all I could find) but it has a 1" opening. So when I tried to dump a small splash in my hand,, I was wasting a lot, the salad dressing bottle is a good idea too.

Witch hazel shouldn't do anything adverse to skin. It's just a cheap simple astringent that tighten the pores. Just to echo what's been said, on it's own it doesn't really give much shine but because of it's tightening effect, it will make scalp that little bit smoother.
Once dried, you moisturizer like glossy for example should go on that little bit smoother and buff to a slightly better shine.
