If you could pick only one song to characterize yourself at or up to this point in your life, what would it be? Kind of like the soundtrack of your life except just pick one.
This is a tough one for me. I had to think about it.
Mine- Gary Jules- Mad world

I've been blessed with great family, great friends and a life filled with enjoyment, so I would have to pick the soundrack from Rudy for my life.

These past couple of years, and even more so the last few months have been a long hard road out of hell for me. I'm not sure that many people will understand the metaphor here, but it doesn't really matter. There are two songs that really describe ME now.
The first song is from a band called The Famine. The song is Ascend.
I tried to do it on my own
That time is wasted
My mind and evil has grown
I had to face it
Deliver me from this pain
Without You I have failed
Make me whole again
It's been so long since I've said Your name
I will return to You, run to your embrace
I will take shelter in Your wings
To soar above it and set me free
I want to drown in the floods of forgiveness
Pouring fire to my soul
My lungs are filled breathing in healing waters
Oh Lord tear it down, let it flow
From the valley of the dead I must ascend
Take it all away until there's nothing left
Remember things you said
Give me new hope oh Lord
Make me whole again
It's been so long since I've said Your name
I will return to You, run to your embrace
I will take shelter in Your wings
To soar above it and set me free
Now that time is wasted I had to face it
The second song is Demon Hunter - My Throat is an Open Grave
We lay face down in pale solitude.
To save face, we pulled our walls in front of you.
To the same place where we danced in front of you.
We fell from grace and watched the hope fall from your face.
This isn't me i used to say.
All the love was so gone.
It feels good to be alive.
I've been dead for so long: and all the broken promises.
I can't face. Afraid if someone notices, I lose my place.
Fractured, broken, paralyzed.
I need some space, tear me open, analyze.
This isn't me i used to say.
All the love was so gone.
It feels good to be alive.
I've been dead for so long.
Wake up screaming, I'm awake and dreaming,
And i won't stop breathing until my heart stops beating.
This isn't me, i used to say.
All the love was so gone, It feels good to be alive,
I've been dead for so long

Cam,
It sounds like you've had an awakening. I obviously don't know the details, but I'm glad you've lifted up.
I'm still thinking of a song that identifies me.......

Yes, I have. I really can't explain how it happened, so I just attribute everything to providence.

Dont know if this is the song that signifies my life but it is the one which has had the biggest impact on me lately :-
Which Jesus do you follow?
Which Jesus do you serve?
If Ephesians says to imitate Christ
Then why do you look so much like the world?
Cause my Jesus bled and died
He spent His time with thieves and liars
He loved the poor and accosted the arrogant
So which one do you want to be?
Blessed are the poor in spirit
Or do we pray to be blessed with the wealth of this land
Blessed are they that hunger and thirst for righteousness
Or do we ache for another taste of this world of shifting sand
Cause my Jesus bled and died for my sins
He spent His time with thieves and sluts and liars
He loved the poor and accosted the rich
So which one do you want to be?
Who is this that you follow
This picture of the American dream
If Jesus was here would you walk right by on the other side or fall down and worship at His holy feet
Pretty blue eyes and curly brown hair and a clear complexion
Is how you see Him as He dies for Your sins
But the Word says He was battered and scarred
Or did you miss that part
Sometimes I doubt we'd recognize Him
Cause my Jesus bled and died
He spent His time with thieves and the least of these
He loved the poor and accosted the comfortable
So which one do you want to be?
Cause my Jesus would never be accepted in my church
The blood and dirt on His feet would stain the carpet
But He reaches for the hurting and despised the proud
I think He'd prefer Beale St. to the stained glass crowd
And I know that He can hear me if I cry out loud
I want to be like my Jesus!
I want to be like my Jesus!
Not a posterchild for American prosperity, but like my Jesus
You see I'm tired of living for success and popularity
I want to be like my Jesus but I'm not sure what that means to be like You Jesus
Cause You said to live like You, love like You but then You died for me
Can I be like You Jesus?
I want to be like my Jesus
No apologies for my faith guys! Its what keeps me going through my dark days which some of you already know about. Its called My Jesus and is by Todd Agnew. Have a listen :-

I'm Gonna Win - Foreigner
Another dark night, in the city
And my prospects lookin' thin
The survival, of the fittest
Is the law, in the world that I live in
I was not born, to be a fighter
But now's the time I have to learn
To keep my head, above the water
Gotta play with fire, but not get burned
I gotta stand up, I gotta face it
Don't want to lose it
I want to taste it while it's hot
Don't want to waste it, I need it so bad
I'm gonna win, yeah
I'm gonna win
You see it's a matter of pride
Deep down inside
I'm gonna win, yeah
I'm gonna win
I got no time, to sit and wonder
I got myself, to reckon with
Yeah and life won't drag me under
Even if it takes, all I have to give
I'll give it all
I gotta stand up, I gotta face it
Don't want to lose it
Ooh I want to taste it while it's hot
Don't want to waste it, my mind's made up
I'm gonna win
I'm gonna win
I tell you, see when it comes down to the crunch
I've gotta beat life to the punch
I'm gonna win
Somehow I know I'm gonna win
You know
I've got to fight to stay alive
Kick it in to overdrive
I'm gonna win, ooh, ooh, ooh
I'm gonna win
I'm gonna win
I'm gonna win
You see it's a matter of pride
Deep down inside
I'm gonna win
Gonna win, gonna win
Ooh, I'll pay the price
Gonna win
No more Mr. Nice
Gonna win
Hey, just watch me roll the dice
I'm gonna win, win, win
I'm gonna win, win, gonna win
I'm gonna win
I know I'm gonna win

Right now it is Praise You in This Storm by Casting Crowns
-
Right now it would be Chicken Fried by Zac Brown Band
You know I like my chicken fried
Cold beer on a Friday night
A pair of jeans that fit just right
And the radio up
Well I`ve seen the sunrise
See the love in my woman`s eyes
Feel the touch of a precious child
And know a mother`s love
Well I was raised up beneath the shade of a Georgia pine
And that`s home you know
Sweet tea pecan pie and homemade wine
Where the peaches grow
And my house it`s not much to talk about
But it`s filled with love that`s grown in southern ground
And a little bit of chicken fried
Cold beer on a Friday night
A pair of jeans that fit just right
And the radio up
Well I`ve seen the sunrise
See the love in my woman`s eyes
Feel the touch of a precious child
And know a mother`s love
And its funny how it`s the simple things in life that mean the most
Not where you live or what you drive or the price tag on your clothes
There`s no dollar sign on a piece of mind this I`ve come to know
So if you agree have a drink with me
Raise you glasses for a toast
To a little bit of chicken fried
Cold beer on a Friday night
A pair of jeans that fit just right
And the radio up
Well I`ve seen the sunrise
See the love in my woman`s eyes
Feel the touch of a precious child
And know a mother`s love
I thank God for my life
And for the stars and stripes
May freedom forever fly, let it ring.
Salute the ones who died
The ones that give their lives so we don`t have to sacrifice
All the things we love
Like our chicken fried
Cold beer on a Friday night
A pair of jeans that fit just right
And the radio up
Well I`ve seen the sunrise
See the love in my woman`s eyes
Feel the touch of a precious child
And know a mother`s love

Some days remind me of Willie Nelson's "Last Thing I Needed First Thing This Morning":
The postman delivered
A "past due" bill notice
The alarm clock rang two hours late
The garbage man left all the trash
On the sidewalk
And the hinges fell off of the gate
And this morning at breakfast
I spilled all the coffee
And I opened the door on my knee
But the last thing I needed
The first thing this morning
Was to have you walk out on me
