Title: Favorite Song Lyrics
Post by: Cam on January 08, 2009, 06:48:24 PM
What are your favorite song lyrics? Not really the entire song, just those great lines. The lines that are inspiring. I want to know the lines that motivate you, change your state of mind. You know what I mean, just song lyrics that make you feel, I guess is what I'm trying to say. I'll start off with a few of my favorites:

"Hell hath no fury at all!" - Demon Hunter, Storm the Gates of Hell

"I've got brand new armor, all weapons are way our of reach" - In Flames, Drenched in Fear

"I want you to lead me, take me somewhere. Don't want to live in a dream one more day" - In Flames, Come Clarity

"Lift up your dress, I said I'll go slow. I'll never stop this, until I reload" - Nothingface, Bleeder

Okay, that's enough for now.   8)

"In such a world as this does one dare to think for himself?" - As the Palaces Burn - Lamb of God

This one is more of a favorite chorus rather than a lyric

"There's a highway to, to the edge, yeah
Once a night you will drive yourself there
At the end of the road you will find the answer
At the end of the road you will drink the fear" - Hall of Mirrors - The Distillers

And I am going to stop there, I have more but I am wasting most of my day racking my brains!!

Good question Cam

This just gets my hyped up like crazy, especially if im really mad:

Whitechapel - Vicer Exciser
"The necrotizing fasciitis has commenced its work.
No anesthesia applied.
This will be everlasting.
In the name of anatomy I shall dismember and attain what is rightfully mine."

As far as making me think a lot....
Glassjaw - Radio Cambodia
"I'm not impressed,
I guess I'm not impressed.
With which dialect, which dialect marches best,
And who reaches heaven in what order
When our kids are baptized in mortar."

And motivational...

Earthcrisis - Firestorm
"A firestorm to purify."

OK, I've some some wide tastes. These songs all have different meanings / inspirations to me:

"There's a carrot top that can barely walk, with a sippy cup of milk...A little blue-eyed blonde with shoes on wrong 'cause she likes to dress herself...and the most beautiful girl, holding both of them. Yeah the view I love the most is my front porch looking in" - Lonestar, My Front Porch Looking In One of my favorite songs that keeps things in perspective for me.

I've got to keep running, be strong, be determined and push myself on" - Iron Maiden, The Loneliness of The Long Distance Runner Great running song (DUH)

"Here them singing Happy Birthday, better think about the wish I made, this year's gone by been a piece of cake" - Jimmy Buffett, Trip Around The Sun. Great tune with JB and Martina McBride

"Life's for my own to live my own way" - Metallica, Escape

Probably my favorite love song.... Help Me Make it Through the Night.

Originally sung by Kris Kristofferson but covered by many over the years.

Thanks to youtube you can hear it here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xh1y7Jkikuk&feature=related

Take the ribbon from your hair,
Shake it loose and let it fall,
Layin' soft upon my skin.
Like the shadows on the wall.

Come and lay down by my side
'till the early morning light
All I'm takin' is your time.
Help me make it through the night.

I don't care what's right or wrong,
I don't try to understand.
Let the devil take tomorrow.
Lord, tonight I need a friend.

Yesterday is dead and gone
And tomorrow's out of sight.
And it's sad to be alone.
Help me make it through the night.

I don't care what's right or wrong,
I don't try to understand.
Let the devil take tomorrow.
Lord, tonight I need a friend.

Yesterday is dead and gone
And tomorrow's out of sight.
Lord, it's bad to be alone.
Help me make it through the night.

"She just started liking cheating songs,
  But what's bothering me,
  I don't know if it's the cheating she likes,
  Or just the melody."  ETC

"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to get through this thing called life;
Electric word life that means forever
And that's a mighty long time;
But I'm here to tell ya there's something else;
The afterworld.

A place of never ending happiness - you can always see the sun day or night;
So when you call up that shrink in Beverly Hills
You know the one - taught ya everything'd be allright.

Insteading asking how much of your mind is left - ask him how much of your time is left.
Cause in this life things are much harder than in the afterworld.
In this life you're on your own.

Prince - "Let's Go Crazy" from Purple Rain

"Who knows maybe you were tied up, taken away and held for ransom"
Tom Petty "Refugee"

And my all time favorite:

I was drunk the day my mom got out of prison;
And I went to pick her in the rain;
But before I could get to the station in my pickup truck;
She got runned over by damned ol' train.

And I'll hang around as long as you will let me,
Cause I never minded standed in the rain.
You don't have to call me darlin' - darlin'
You never even called me
I wonder why you don't call me
Why don't you ever call me by my name.

David Allen Coe   O0

I been standing on the corner in Winslow, Arizona
I'm such a fine sight to see.
It's a girl my Lord
In a flat bed Ford
Slowing down to take a look at me.

Eagles  "Take it Easy"

"You can't think of dying when the bottle's your best friend" 18 and Life- Skid Row

"What you feel is what you are and what you are is beautiful"Slide- Goo Goo Dolls

"Take my hand and come away and ill take you home" COLD- Back Home

And I love the lyrics to this whole song...

"It's such a simple thing. I never feel this way.
I have nightmares I have dreams of you gone.
There is something in you I want today.
So hide the bones away beneath the yellow lines.
You're scared of what you lose or what you might gain this time.

I love you more than I should.
I would wrap my heart in bands of rosewood.
I love you more than I should.
I would stay beside you here ten million years.

You see yourself in the mirror. You see yourself at night.
You see yourself in the gutter, baby you see yourself like a star shining bright.

I love you more than I should. I would stay beside you here ten million years.
Every minute every hour every second you take me over.
Every night of every day I wait I take I know I take but I love you more than I should.
I would stay inside you here ten million years." 10 Million Years- Black Lab

I've been a puppet, a pauper,
a pirate, a poet,
a pawn and a king
I've been up and down
and over and out and I know one thing
Each time I find myself layin' flat on my face
I just pick myself up and get back in the race
-Frank, "That's Life"

And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance
-Garth Brooks, "The Dance"

And for comedic effect:
MC's are like clay pigeons and I'm shootin' skeet
I just yell pull and MMM drops the beat
...
Now talk about your face now don't get pissed
But I suggest you see a dermatologist
-Beastie Boys, "Hey f**k You"
