Hello Sly bald guy members, My name is Mark (but everyone calls me happy). Im 22 and a college student, over the last few years my thinning hair became more and more apparent to the point im always checking myself in the mirror to see if its noticable, and always wearing a hat. I wore a hat to the point my friends and family forgot what my head looked liked lol. After feeling the worst i have been in the past 2 years i decided to do something about, thats when i made the mistake of getting foold into those hair transplant ads. Im not going to name names here but im sure u can see the infomercials late at night. I had everything set up for the surgury date and ready to go, but after reading up on the operation i started to get cold feeet and cancelled 2 days befoer the operation. I lost out on my deposit but i honestly thought that the operation was not the best choice for me. I
have then decided to try the bald route and started looking up pictures of men sporting the bald look and tryed to find some people with similar head shape and skin tone so i can gauge what it may turn out to be. Then I found this site and after reading alot diffrent posts about how great the bald look works for your and how not to let society put down the bald look, i gained some confidence in this and actually looking forward to the bald look. Though im quite thin and i have a pointy head but hopefully all will work out, and im gonna give it the 30 day trial.
Tomarrow I will be going to get the head buzzed then maybe in a day or two i will shave it bald, then I will post up some pics of before and after.
And btw I would like to thank the creator of this forum for giving me a place to meet other men who have gone through mpb as I have.

That's awesome man. I think you made the right choice by not doing a transplant, I don't think you'll regret it.
Welcome to SBG!

Dude, this is a great story.
At 23, I have lost and am losing my hair at a young age, and I understand the stress that it can cause. Shaving your head can help rid yourself of that worry.
I guarantee that you have made the right decision by not going through with the surgery.

^Thanks guys This decision was very difficult to make, when talking to the consultant about the leaving (naturally he wanted me to reconsider) one of his points was "think of what the ladys will think? with you being bald a woman in a bar wouldnt want to talk to you, after this operation all the women will be wanting to see you"... How much of a cheeseball tactic was that!? shoot last summer i had a buzz cut and my hairloss was apparent and i worked in a school with several beautiful women and i got most of their numbers because i showed confidence in myself and carried a smile wherever i went. This was all when I was still feeling very self consience one the inside.

Welcome to SBG Happy !! You made the right decision about the surgery and it's great to have you aboard !! O0

Happy, you are sly from the get-go. Welcome aboard this great site.

good decision O0

Welcome to the Forum Mark! Unnessary surgery is never a good choice. You have made the right choice by not doing that. Now you just have to decide what level of SLYness (buzz or bald) is right for you.
And way to hit that key point about confidence.........
-
Welcome aboard Mark. You are definitely making the right move with going the sly route.

Hey, I'm fairly new to this forum (about a week now) and I have found the conversations very encouraging and helpful as I continue to accept my body for what it is.
I was about 22 when I decided to shave my head. Although I was nervous at first, I wouldn't go back.
Welcome and come back often!

hey Cap! Glad you didnt do it. I did 30 years ago and had to correct most of the damage. As Ive written on here, it wasnt an easy correction.
-
wow thanks guys im really excited and will head forth with as much confidence i can do...
and marty that must have been crazy to have to have that corrected im sorry to hear that but ya look good sly!, if u have a link to that post id like to read up on it...

great decision, Mark... the only blade touching your head will be the one in your hands.

Welcome Mark!

Capthappy ~ good job on seeing through the whole transplant thing. You're on the very edge of the new you. Scrape that noggin and start a whole new energy -- one that's not weighted down by hair concerns. Post a pic!

Mark,
You made the right decision when you opted out of the surgery. A friend of mine had several transplants done 15 years ago and now it looks terrible. Recently, he told me he regretted having the transplants done and how the scarring has limited his ability to shave his head now.
Shave it clean for 30 days and see how you like it. My prediction is that you'll be a sly-guy, long-term.
