Some of these phrases that mean different things in different countries can be dangerous. The summer I turned 19 I spent three weeks with my uncle in Ireland. His wife's niece was staying there at the same time. One night we were making plans for someplace we were going the next morning. The niece asked me if I would come and knock her up in the morning after I'd gotten up. Only we both had different interpretations of what that phrase meant. :-[

What's it like in Ireland, RazorX? I've always wanted to go there. Some of my ancestors came over from Ireland right after the potato phamon.

Beautiful country, great scenery, wonderful people, fairly wet climate and plenty of pubs. `Dr!n#

I will echo Razor sentiments except that I have been lucky and sit great sunny spells on my trips to Ireland. It is a must visit place especially if you are of Irish heritage. You are treated like a returning lost son.

Actually, so have I. I've had great weather every time I've gone. Sometimes I got the only decent weather they had all summer. But that's not typical.

Wasn't it Winston Churchill that said that the Americans and the British were two peoples divided by a common language? ;D ;D ;D
