For after shave, something old school barbershop...either a splash of Pinaud Clubman or good quality Bay Rum (ordered online or from Orvis).
For cologne: not so much a fan of colognes.

Aftershave, Musgo Real Splash or Dr Harris Pink
Colognes, errm Code Black I like, Amouge Dia and CoolWater's good.

I don't use traditional aftershaves as they make me break out but I do use Nivea balm.

My wife loves Polo, Polo Sport and Aspen colognes on me though.

I have used Polo for years, but my wife is getting tired of it and most are too expensive to try and then end up not liking it...

Most of the various brands will mail you free samples. You can also go to a department store and get samples there.
