Title: Ooops! Buzzed off the goat.
Post by: PowerOfCheese on November 30, 2008, 09:21:07 AM
It seems like once every 5 years or so I goof up speed trimming my goat and have to buzz it off. It grows back fast enough where I don't panic *too much* but this is the first time in my adult life that I've been sly with no beard or goat.

After buzzing it off I had to go to a friends 40th birthday party at a local tavern (he's sly also) . Only 1 of the dozen or so golf buddies even noticed I had shaved the goat off. Short story shorter, I ended up staying out till about 4am with a petite sweetheart I worked up the courage to introduced myself to. The bar was packed and there were only 2 sly guys for ALL those women (lots of hats though, Hah!). Funny thing... my sly friend and I were the only ones who didn't go home alone. How's that for representing!?!

I feel quite naked still but I'm wondering if I should work the Mr. Clean for a while. Let me know what you think. -Thanks

Picture quality is lousy from the blackberry but it's all I have right now.

Actually, I think you look better without it also.   O0

I know how you feel, as someone who has been almost my whole life with a tash or goat.  i shaved mine off in September and felt really naked, but I am enjoying the 'Mr Smooth' look at the moment.  I daresay i will grow the goat back at some  time, but for now I'm keepin it clean.

You look great with or without the goat: I don't really think you look younger or older, it's just different.  Try leaving it off a while and see how it goes. O0

Seems you've answered your own question.
Chicks dig a clean faced sly. Try the Mr. Clean look for a while.

That's what I'm currently sporting now too. My wife hates any sort of facial scruff. But that hasn't stopped me from wearing a goatee or beard when I feel a need to grow something.

The Mr. Clean look suits you well.  Since you're already there, stick with it for a while.  I know what you mean about feeling naked; we all feel that way after shaving facial hair that's been there for a while.

FWIW, I do think you look younger without the goat.

You look great that way. I have only had a fully shaven face a couple of times in the last 20 years. I prefer..as does my wife..at least a goatee on me. But some guys look great fully shaven.

You look younger and friendlier without the goat.  What I'm wondering is how the heck do you accidentally shave off part of your goatee?  How hard is it to shave around it? (I currently have a goatee lol)

The Mr Clean-look is good for you. O0

Enjoy it as long as you want.

I was hoping I wouldn't be asked that.

I don't have a drinking problem but damn, every time I get a case of those twisted teas I drink them like they're bottled water.

Anyway... There I was... not exactly sober... Braun trimmer in hand... Brain got crisscrossed while trimming in the mirror. Brain said down and a little left, hand went down and a little right. I didn't remove it accidentally I just made it WAY too narrow for my liking.

Wasn't penicillin discovered by accident?!  O:O

Mix it up a bit. You can always grow it back whenever you get tired of shaving the face.

You do look younger w/o the goat. But my sixth sense is telling me that you're a dude that wants more edge. I say grow out your soul patch. That should give you just the right amount of edge.

Thanks for all the input guys. I'm going to see how that soul patch comes in. It's the least gray part of my head... for now.

Vampire, that was quite flattering. Thanks for that! ^-^

 Bro...you look great both ways..

I'm thinkin' you might want to keep you face smooth for a while though..

since you're visiting Mr. Cleans neighborhood anyways...why not stick with it since it does fit you and does make you look way younger bro..

plus the new little lady knows ya with the ultra bald look...and digs it! ;)

I vote Mr. Clean till you want somethin' different...

that is if you ever will want to leave the "clean" side of sly! ;)

Thank you my brothers. Funny thing, I feel more naked without my goat or beard than I did after I shaved my head. I'm runnin with it though. Au natural baby!

I never got too worked up about being so gray at 40 yrs but I must say it's kinda nice to look in the mirror and not see any.

This was all done with a 0 clipper. I have yet to experience shaving everything. I may do that right before a Florida keys trip next week. For now, the stubble is my security blanket.

Question: Is there a 30 plan for goatees/beards?

Yea...the 30 day rule applies...and come on bro...live a little take the razor to your chin and experience the full Mr. Clean action..

it's a cool thing havin' a clean head AND face..

it's only one days growth!

You look real good clean (and way younger)

...go for it totally smooth!

In my opinion you can pull off both looks.  And there's never a bad time for a change of pace.  Bald the face for a while!!

PoC... definitely roll with the Mr. Clean or soul patch!

I recently grew out my goatee and "accidently" messed up trimming it... now I'm back to just the soul patch (or as I got in an email the other day from a young lady... she called it a "womb broom"!  Not sure what to make of that one...)

PoC -- First off, congrats on going Sly.  I've looked at your before and after pics and smooth is tops!

Last year I had a goatee trimming accident and by the time I evened everything up I had a Hitler mustache that wouldn't do.  I was amazed at how much younger I thought I looked without the grey goat, so I've kept it smooth since.

Your Mr. Clean look is terrific, in my opinion, although the goat looks good too.  Gives you a hint of swashbuckle.

"swashbuckle" line cracked me up. Thanks man. I'm still sportin the no goat look although I haven't shaved in about 4 days. Funny, I seem to have completely conquered my anxiety over MPB. See it, don't see it, shaved, stubble... I really don't care. I think it looks good any way except long.

They gray is my new issue du jour. People that know me say they like the gray but I don't and there's no way I'm going to color it. Don't get me wrong, I like gray hair, just not on me I guess. I spent my first 40 years trying to look older. Now that I turned 40 I find myself trying to look younger. Bizarre process eh? I chalk it up to being incredibly hot for this 27 year old goddess I've been hanging out with. I'm still digesting age gap anxiety and how to overcome it. The shaved/buzzed noggin has helped more than words can describe.
