Title: New shaver burning through the blades

Hello all!

Just started shaving completely a few months ago with the venerable Headblade. Love it. The shaved head and the HB. My only real problem seems to be the blades themselves. I'm using Gillette Atra Plus blades (I think?). The problem is that I'm going through about one blade a day. They just don't seem to last any longer than that.

Is this just the way it is... or am I doing something wrong?

(One of my biggest reasons for shaving was that my hair would never cooperate. I always told people it was made of spring steel. Maybe that has something to do with why the blades won't last  ;) )

Welcome!

I have just started using the HB to shave recently. I have only been using each blade a couple of times before I feel they lose the edge, I have been using the triple blade that Headblade sells.

I would also like to know if anyone recommends one blade over another.

I suspect that many of the guys here would recommend you only use each blade a couple of times max but please correct me if I am wrong.

welcome to the asylum first of all. as for blade life, it varies bro. with the headblade brand blades, i get two or three shaves. with my mach three i get 4 or 5 max. i have tried the atras and the hb brand and both work well for me. i did not really care for the triples on my headblade.
   it sorta depends on hair texture too. course hair eats blades faster. just seems like that is part of it bro. the farther back my hairline gets, the longer my blades last. lol  just keep at it and try different blades till you find what works best. keep posting and being part of the family. later. paulie

I guess I'll just have to resign myself to the fact that there is a price to pay for being bald.

Funny, the other day someone pointed to me and said, "Look, he can't even afford to have hair!" (I believe he was making a point about the economy). I said, "If only you knew man... if only you knew."

I have to agree with PBurke. I've tried both double and triple blades, and I like the doubles much better. Triples just get all clogged. It probably doesn't help that I have thick, coarse hair.

shave it everyday ... thats the answer just takes 3-4 minutes, and the blades dont burn out quick that way.

I get about a week from the HB triples. BUT..... I have MPB so I'm shaving a lot less hair than some of you guys. I still glide the HB over the top of the head to catch the few strays...... and just 'cause it feels good.
