So...Dr Pepper. A unique drink. It's not an apple, it's not an orange, it's not a strawberry, it's not a root beer, it's not even a cola. It's a different kind of drink with a unique taste all its own.
So that leads us to...What flavor exactly is Dr Pepper? No one knows. You do? Well tell us then, cause I would like to know.
-
Try adding some chocolate syrup in your Dr. Pepper. It tastes great!
-
I always say why mess with a good thing. It taste great do we really need to the know the truth??? I know I know but the truth is out there.
-
Recently, DP has been advertising that is has 23 flavors, or something like that...
I guess the flavor could be 'graveyard'.... but i think Dr Pepper will remain a mystery :-X

I laughed when I first saw that. I thought "23 flavors? Doesn't that just mean that they had to keep adding stuff to mask the taste of their really crappy cola?"
I can picture how it was made.
"Hey guys, I made this new drink."
"Man... That tastes horrible."
"Hrm... Let's add this..."
"No, that's still horrible."
22 flavors later...
"Oh man, that's actually pretty good."
"Well, let's try it without this first thing."
"No, tastes like crap again."
-
Years ago I read that Dr. Pepper is actually just cola with grape soda added. I don't know if it's true or not.
I rarely drink soft drinks but when i do the Dr. makes the call!

I don't know. Use to like it as a kid but it's just got too much going on in there for me.
Kind of like Mountain Dew. !*u%e

I live in the South, so of course I drink Dr. Pepper. I've traveled up north and sometimes had a hard time finding it.
I grew up drinking it, so I guess that's one reason I like it so much.
As for the flavor, some people say it tastes like prune juice.
-
I dont think it taste anything like prune juice....but I have heard that as well.
-
cherry dr pepper from sonic is pretty good.
-
It has always tasted like prune juice to me, maybe it's one of those genetic taste bud things. I love Coke Classic--especially the Hecho en Mexico or Kosher for Passover varieties that use cane sugar and not high fructose corn syrup, Barq's, even 7-UP, but Dr. Pepper--just tastes like prunes. My kids don't care for it either, they think it tastes awful, but they can't compare it to prune juice--they won't even taste that for purposes of finding out. But it is definately a southern thing, almost like an RC and a Moon Pie.
-
I agree with saint. Diet Pepsi or Coke for me.
-
Hey guys, if you are ever in Waco Texas, stop by the Dr. Pepper Museum. Great Place.

Its it my beverage of choice when I cruise the soda aisle. The diet is pretty good too. It is the only diet soda that is very close to the non-diet version.
-
I was told that it tastes like a cherry coke. Not the one in the can but the one you could get at a soda shop. Well my first Dr. Pepper was my last Dr. Pepper. No way did it taste like a cherry coke. Yuck. Prune juice. :Xo!

Heck Yeah! A Cherry Coke is a Cherry Coke. That's some good stuff right there. But Dr. Pepper tasting like Cherry Coke. NO FREAKIN' WAY!

It makes me think of that scene from National Lampoon's Vacation. The very first one where the daughter of "Cousin Eddie" stirs the cool aid with her whole arm. ;D ;D
-
LOL Thats just nasty
-
I get a craving for one periodically but my daughter is a Dr. Pepper FREAK!! Personally to me it usually tastes like cough syrup.

Timm..is that before or AFTER you pee!! :*))
-
Only had Dr Pepper a couple of times, and can't remember what it tastes like: sort of vanilla like...or like Dandelion and Burdock...Not my favourite taste :-\
-
I never heard about the "Dr Pepper tasting like prune juice" phenomenon. Sounds like it's experiment time.
off to the lab!

Now thats a happy thought

I have been told that crown and Dr Pepper is a great drink. I have yet worked up the nerve to ruin a perfectly good shot of crown, but may try it someday.
And another note.... the cherry coke you get in a can just don't cut it. My aunt worked in a soda shop when I was a kid and she would make a real one with the syrup and put a cherry in it. It has to be freshly mixed or it loses its pizazz!
-
In grad school we did a blind taste test. We had Sam's Cola, Coca-Cola, Pepsi One, and one other, I think it was Pepsi. Out of six or so tasters, only one got it right. The most common mistake was confusing Sam's and Coke. The drinks were not cold, which could have made a difference. But the point was the they all basically taste the same. Most of what makes it taste different is knowing that it's different.
Oh, and down here everything is called Coke. "I want a Coke." "What kind?" "Dr. Pepper."
-
same up here in a way....but its called I want a POP. Love it when we go south and they hear us say POP. The waitresses are like....y'all from the north arent ya? LOL We's call it Soda. LOL

Deep one through Georgia: A glass of Coca Cola with chocolate
-

Sheet on a shingle ( i.e. chipped beef gravy on a slice of toast)

Sheet On The Shingle.

As a kid in Texas, we would go to the drug store and order a cherry, vanilla Dr Pepper. If my mind serves me right, it was pretty good. Of course that was over fifty years ago. Probably taste like crap now.
-
Timm and Rafter, my moms from PA, and everytime we go up there above the Mason-Dixon, we always make fun of them for saying "pop" and "crick" and stuff like that, and vice versa.
My party drink is Mountain Dew.
It'll tickle yer innards!
-
Yeah Imma a southern hick living in the north. Never lived in the south...but us southern indiana people have been told we sound more southern than the southerners..

The same can be said about southern Illinoisans. Just listen to my cousin Sam talk, and ya'll know what I mean.
-
Nobody says "Pop" in my neck of the woods. Wonder where that term comes from.?
-
It's "cold drink" or "red drink-i.e., creme soda" here, or Coke. The Crescent City is more a Coke town than a Pepsi town. Soda is used, and much more often than pop, although the full term soda pop is sometimes heard.
-

I'm pretty sure it came from "soda pop"
People call it pop up here in the northwest. I've met people from Idaho, Washington, and Oregon that call it pop. Then when you get down to California territory, they're too "civilized" and prefer calling it soda.
But it's strange how different locations prefer different slang/words.
-
soda sounds tooo sophisticated for this country hick....Pop werks well fer me

Where I grew up we just asked.."Ya'll wanna cold drink??" That was our term for soda or pop.

Come now rafter, you don't really want to ask a waitress in the south for that.
No telling what kinda sheet you will get and exactly what the shingle would be. :o

Anyone want a Dr. Pepper?
LOS ANGELES — Dr Pepper is making good on its promise of free soda now that the release of Guns N' Roses' "Chinese Democracy" is a reality.
The soft-drink maker said in March that it would give a free soda to everyone in America if the album dropped in 2008. "Chinese Democracy," infamously delayed since recording began in 1994, goes on sale Sunday.
"We never thought this day would come," Tony Jacobs, Dr Pepper's vice president of marketing, said in a statement. "But now that it's here, all we can say is: The Dr Pepper's on us."
Beginning Sunday at 12:01 a.m., coupons for a free 20-ounce soda will be available for 24 hours on Dr Pepper's Web site. They'll be honored until Feb. 28.
