Title: May be a seasonal thang, man.
Post by: Robmeister on November 16, 2008, 12:42:24 PM
Well gang, looks like the Robmeister may need to keep a little insulation during the winter weather.  Like the last couple winters, the Denver frigidity tends to cause me headaches...boo hooo  :'(   So you SLY PURISTS will simply have to grant me grace and mercy  ;)

I recall this being an issue with one of our guys, "handlebar."   Anyways, I'll just post what I posted on Christian Chromedomes today.

=====================================
Hey Marshmeister,

Your timing is uncanny as I've been wrestling with this very issue lately.

Since I have the choice, I'll be perfectly honest..it is more comfortable as
well as more practical to grow it out a bit when the temps drop here in
Denver. So here's the deal. And I think I'll go ahead and share on SBG as
well.

Comfortable: My favorite part of head shaving is the OUTDOORS.....getting' sun
up there enjoying the breeze, and-as you mention-showing off the dome.
However, after 2 winters now scraping the bean I found during the winter,
even though I love how the cold weather tightens up the skin up there, I'm
prone to headaches from the chill so out comes the ski caps, doo rags, etc..
to avoid the headaches.

The quandary arises: here I am proudly and
impeccably caring for the noggin and then covering it up.

Practical: With me out and about, calling on clients in a suit and tie--while the
sly look goes great with the business look--ski caps and doo rags ain't
quite cuttin' it with the business attire.

So since you bring it up, I'm afraid I'm opting for comfort and practicality
since I CAN. Besides that, I know several proud-to-scrape BBC sly guys out
here who make that practice part of their seasonal routine.  Then in Spring out come the Harley's and the razors to celebrate.

Rob

It has been a long time guys. So tell me what do you do in the winter
to keep your bald heads warm? Do any of you grow out your hair?

I keep my head shaved. But I like to show off my dome most times. But
if it gets too cold, I will wear a baseball cap or a stocking cap.

Hey Rob, hope that helps with the headaches bro. I don't have a full head of hair so I just keep mine shaved all year.

I wear one of those dress wool derbys with the suit and tie in the winter and it seems to do a good job until I can get inside.

Hope your headaches get better and good luck !!    O0

Do what makes YOU comfortable Meister. O0

I plan on being slick and shiny through the cold season.  Got a nice stash of Carhartt beanies and baseball caps to keep the dome toasty.  This is my 1st winter where I'll be working indoors, and being Sly!  YAHOO! ;)

No shame. I'll frequently slide from sly to buzzed for the winter months. Depends on my mood. (Still sly for this year.)

Rob-

The shaved head is only PART of being an SBG. Even without the head shaved, temporarily, you are indeed a SBG for life.

REAL friendship isn't dependant on a head of hair or lack of it and I think it's safe to say there are alot of REAL friends and brothers on here.

Rob, SLYness is from the inside.  I don't care if you grow a ponytail, you are still family.

I LUV YOU GUYZ, MAN  :'(

Seriously, I was really only giving a "heads up"....didn't expect such L-O-V-E

Thanks a bunch !

I definitely prefer shaving.....kinda the opposite problem that Schro faces....but Schro's problem keeps him sly.

It simply solves a sizeable problem for me to let it grow in a bit while it's COLD out here.

With my business suit, overcoat and then....ski cap...I was lookin like a HIT MAN...and sorta WANTED to kill someone...LOL

ROB!!,

You just destroyed the mental tuff guy image that I had of you, I mean just the name ROBMISTER, projects TUFF!! But

now I find out that you are a big wuss!!!! I mean I'm from the great white north, and I never wear hats year round.

I'm just kidding you bro, I've said it before, your a hell of a great guy, and I'm glad that I got the chance to meet you

personally. Like the others said, do what makes you feel comfortable, BUT, when the weather gets warmer don't think for a

minute that if your noggin isn't baby bottom smooth, we will track you down and scalp you ourselves!!!!
