My name is Papa Don. I have only been shaven for about a month now. Stumbled onto your Forum while looking up headshaving on the internet. Thank God you were there. So much information. I am a 60+ year old retired local county worker. A widower for almost seven years. My reason for shaving was that I had the world's worst hair. Very course and wavy. I would spend a lot of time and money trying to get a look I liked. Needless to say--no luck.
Therefore I tried shaving and you know what? You guys are right! It's the only way to go. I hope to be a regular on the forum in the future. Thanks for your advise on technique and encouragement etc. I don't have a picture of the new me. I am not a whiz on this computer. When I get help I will try to post a before and after. Anxious to see what you think.

Great intro Papa Don. Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new dome.
My favorite part is getting out of bed on a weekend and going out for coffee without having to worry about bed head or finding a hat. So convenient and looks a hell of a lot better. How about yourself? What do you like most about being sly so far?
See ya around.

Hey Guys, Thanks for the great welcome. I have enjoyed the conversations omoung yourselves. Very helpful in my decision to go Sly. I was a little afraid of negative comments at first, but you thought me that confidence in my own appearance is all that matters. I now go out with my head held high. "Let the shine stand high". I was ask what I liked most about being Sly. One word--Everything!!! Wish I had done it years before.
A few more facts about me is that I just recently bought a Harley V-Rod. It had been twenty years since I rode. So I am getting ready to take a riding course.. God knows I don't want to skin-up this beautiful skull LOL! Since retiring I have had to find things to do. Gets kind of boring at times. I am artistic so I may start painting and sketching. Living alone, you tend to have a lot of time on your hands. Even thought about volunteer work at a hospital or something. Any suggestions?
Better go.
Thanks again

Guys I have already been teased on several occasions, but not about the Papa Don moniker. My neighbor's children adopted me as their Grandfather some years ago. Love the kids like they were my own.
I have a cousin who is like a sister (A bossy sister). She has hounded me to death about the new look. I had to sit her down and tell her that my head was mine and that her kidding and or ridicule would not change my mind about my new Slyness. Guess what? She has backed off. I suggest this approach to any new Sly guy. Of course not a wife or girlfriend. Through you guys I have found the confidence to do my thing.
Thank again

Thanks for all the support and salutations. Man, I can't tell you how much I enjoy this website. Where have you been? This is really up my alley. I do have a couple of questions though. Just in the last couple of days I have noticed that my twelve o'clock shadow seem to be getting lighter. My hair was salt & pepper and thinning a little on the very top. The thought ran through my mind " Is it thinning more since I started shaving? It's not a problem now that I have gone Sly, just a thought. My second question is technique. In the crown of my cranium, there is ( for lack of a better description) a whrilpool of hair about the size of a dime. I have a terrible time shaving in this. Any suggestions. I am a compulsive/obcessive about the skull being completly baby bottom smooth. Thanks in advance.

Hey Papa Don, a belated welcome to the SBG's site. Good to have you with us, and it seems like you are really glad to be smooth. It's a great feeling, isn't it?
There is plenty to talk about here, and a good bunch of guys and gals to talk with.
Hope you enjoy, and post up more when you can.
