Irma, a red doberman.  She's our fourth, I had Alma when we married, she developed bone cancer at 10, then we had Zena, followed by Stella, the only black dobie, and now Irma.  Notwithstanding their reputation, dobies are pussy cats, but they demand loads of attention and exercise.

2 dobermans here. My best buddy Mojo is a year and 1/2 old and Voodoo is 7. Voodoo is the most obedient and well behaved dog I've ever seen. Around children he moves in slow motion, it's hysterical. Every movement from paws to head is in slow-mo. We didn't teach him that, he just picked it up being around kids and having them hang all over him like he was a pony.

Mojo is still too clumsy and rough to be around children or strange dogs. He's still in training and REALLY likes to bark and chase squirrels. Very smart and trainable but still has the brain of a puppy.

I have many many pets, get ready because this is going to be long, lol.

For house pets I have
an umbrella cockatoo named Mr. Magoo, he loves to call everyone chicken chit
my son has a parakeet
there is a blue gill fish
2 cats, one named Angel but is a devil then there is Tiadalma and she is a polydactyl (multiple toes) and she is so nice, almost like the cats need to switch names, lol
3 dogs all from the herding group. There is Oreo and she is a border collie x sheltie cross, then Sadie who is an Aussie shepherd x collie cross, then there is the newest addition Radar who is a purebred border collie. We also have Jabba who is an outdoor watch dog that is a burmese mountain dog x german sheperd cross, he is the night time protector of the farm.

For outdoor/farm animals I have
19 milking goats which range from lamancha, toggenburg, saanen, and sable
4 meat goats
2 quarter horses named Deckard and Fidget
a few barn cats
22 black angus cows and heifers and 1 black angus bull
6 peafowl which consist of 2 peacocks and 4 peahens
Chickens in wyandotte bantams, phoenix bantams, leghorn bantams, sumatra bantams, sumatra largefowl, and a few mutts and egg layers
Domestic ducks in calls, east indies, and cayugas
Exotic waterfowl in wild type and silver bahama pintails, chiloe widgeons, and cackler geese (mini canadas)
Pheasants in red golden, lady amhearst, lots of silvers, a hybrid breeding pen consisting of silver and amhearst males with normal and melanistic ringneck hens, and my pride and joy the reees pheasants, the cocks tail is just over 5 feet now.
I think that is all of them.

 Now for some pics!

Wow Mike, that's some family there! The Red Golden Pheasant is beautiful.

Doberman ears... I think they do look cool with them cropped it's just that I could never do that to a dog. Someone once said I was a hypocrite because I got their tail docked. Well... first off, they do the tail immediately so I had no say in the matter. Secondly, large domesticated dogs with long tails can break them constantly in door jams, furniture, etc... not to mention it's not the best way to clear the wine glasses from the coffee table. I'm all for docking the tail. As for the ears, there's no benefit other than appearance.

Here's an action photo of Voodoo where his flapping ears made it to the UP position. When he shakes his head they sound like someone smacking 2 chickens together. Sorry, no kids yet so all my attention goes to these guys.

The Doberman is the one breed that I think looks good with cropped ears.  Boxers, Great Danes, schnauzers, and pretty much any other breed look way better with the  natural ears.  But I'm with you, I couldn't do it to any dog.  Tail docking is a different story, it's over in a matter of seconds, unlike the ears which have to be taped for months.

As for tail injuries, I think it depends on the breed.  Boxers have very thin tails, which I believe are pretty susceptible to injury.  I'm not sure how common such injuries are.  Anti-docking people say it almost never happens and pro-docking people say it's very common.  There's propaganda on both sides of the argument so it's hard to know what the truth is.  I think the traditionally docked breeds look better docked, but if it could be proven to me that docking is painful and that tail injuries are not very common, I wouldn't object to leaving the tails natural.
