There has been a little bit of talk of a Sly Bald Mini Con near Tacoma, WA. BaldRob was supposed to be at Fort Lewis because of his job. We were tenatively going to do it on a weekend but can't since his job is going to take him elsewhere on the weekends.
So BaldRob, I messaged you but you have not returned my message yet. Hopefully you will see this post soon! I am only available on Tuesday Dec 2nd and Wednesday Dec 3rd. I was thinking of someplace near Lakewood, WA, which is adjacent to Fort Lewis. I know that Time2Shine was interested in coming. Marz, are you still out there? To all our Oregon members, if this happens, you are still welcome to join us. But with the potential night being on a weeknight, I know that may not happen.
So BaldRob, get back to me. Maybe even give me your phone number so we can talk this over!

I am surprised that there is no response on this. BaldRob, are you out there and are you ok? Get back to me soon. But right now, I am thinking that there may not be a NW Sly mini con.

Sorry, I've been busy with non-computer life lately. But I live in Portland, OR. and would love to try and do a mini-con.

Well guys, here is my idea. A few months ago, BaldRob told me he was going to be at Fort Lewis near Tacoma for some work. So he had the idea of getting together. Unfortunately, his schedule changed, so while he will still be up in the Northwest, it will not be on a weekend. So I am thinking that maybe some of us could get together on Tuesday December 2nd in Lakewood, WA. This is adjacent to Fort Lewis. No specific plans have been made as of yet. But I am wondering how many might be interested. I realize that the day of the week might be a deal breaker for our Oregon Sly Guys. But you are all still welcome to join us if it works out. But it would be nice to have a count. I do have an idea for a venue. I am thinking of The Ram in Lakewood. It is kind of a sportsgrill/brewpub kind of place. But I have not contacted them yet. What do you all think? Rob, get back to me on this!

I'm in... On my end, my trip got shortened due to other conflicting work stuff and won't be staying the weekend... but if we can get some peeps together during the week, that would great!

OK, it looks like Tueday December 2nd looks good. So how many takers do we have? Let's make the count official and then we can make plans with a place to go. But besides the place I mentioned earlier, would anyone have a problem with going to Hooters? Or is that just too tacky? While I am kind of a conservative guy and would NOT go into a strip joint, the Hooters girls might give us sly domed guys some cutsie, flirty attention!! :@`

If there are any guys out there that are not comfortable with going to Hooters, that is fine! Just let me know. I don't want anyone to feel weird, uncomfortable or excluded! It doesn't have to be there. But I think it might be fun. I have never been there myself. But one of my best friends, who is sly (but not yet part of this group) is going to take me there for my birthday in January. In fact, I might be able to convince him to come to the mini con!

How about we meet at the Hooters on Tacoma Mall Blvd at 7:30 PM? This is quite easy to get to from Interstate 5. You want to take the 72nd/74th St exit off of the freeway. Go to the west side of the freeway and Tacoma Mall Blvd runs parallel to I-5. As you go North on Tacoma Mall Blvd, you will see Hooters on the left with a sign for Carpet Liquidators and another restaurant on the same sign post. So far, we have 3 confirmed. So Timmay, let us know if you are going to be out here. Also, Marz, I emailed your Comcast account. Are you going to be there. Do you still even check in here? Andre, I'll be thinking of you. I know it's a long drive, but hopefully you can make it!

Me going to the minicon has just gone from likely to unlikely.
Marsh, as I said in my pm, my co-worker is coming up that week. Originally we were doing dinner Wednesday night, but I just found out that he has evening activities scheduled with clients tues, wed, and thurs. I need to be at all these events, and unless something falls through with the people we're meeting, I won't be able to make it.
Either way, if Tuesday falls through, Daren (my co-worker) will be with me. So if I can make it, we will be accompanied by a man with a full head of hair :). I'm sure you guys won't mind.

I was hoping to make it for the NW Sly Bald Mini con. But I have some MAJOR car issues going on and NOT the funds to do it. So unless things change in that direction and I have a auto to drive, I may have to cancel this gathering. As it is, the only confirmed guys were BaldRob, Myself and Time2Shine. I was hoping to carpool with him. So stay tuned!

wish i could make it. Plans for my travels have been cancelled due to lack of funds. If i could Iwould swing thru and pick all y ou handsome guys up...just as long as you were wearing thigh high skirts standing along the highway with your leg sticking out....and your shirt collars pulled down your shoulders a tad bit....lol

Well guys, I don't think that there will be enough people to actually call this a "mini con". My car is fixed and if BaldRob is still game, I am still able and willing to meet up on Tuesday December 2nd at Hooters in Tacoma at 7:30 PM. But if anyone wants to meet up that day, that would be fine. Just let us know! Rob, I will be calling you to confirm, however.
But since we are on the subject of a Northwest Sly Bald Mini Con, would you all be open to one in the Summer of 2009? I know that there are a few members in the Western Washington and Western Oregon areas. It doesn't have to have people like Tyler or BaldRob to be a good time as I am sure that we could have a good one on our own. But that would not preclude others from outside the Northwest from attending. I know we have members in Eastern Washington and North Idaho! It would be fun to have you guys too. So what do you think?

Well Bubba, I was talking about getting together a bigger bunch of guys next year. It just seems like what might be happening on Dec 2nd will just be a one on one meet up. But let's try for something bigger next year!

Well, while tonight was the night that I was hoping to have a NW Sly Bald Mini Con. But instead of a convention, I had a really nice one on one dinner with BaldRob at Hooters in Tacoma, WA. I have to say that he is one heck of a nice guy! O0 So even though it was not a full convention, I had a nice dinner with a nice guy at a place with good scenery (well..... female scenery, that is! >:D).
I would say that even if you are not able to get a Sly Mini con going in your area, if you can meet up with one of the guys, do so! While there have been some people who have caused problems, I would say that probably most of us who are active here are pretty nice guys, at least from what I have read! Anyway, BaldRob, I enjoyed the evening buddy! Hope to meet up with you again sometime!
