So.. Just because I´m curios..
What do you guys do before you put on your oil / cream / gel / combo of them of your choice?
I´ve heard lots of good stuff about exfoliating.. But is there any other magic tricks and
tips like that?
Thanks,
Carry On. 8)

hey jumissa: i exfoliate only 2-3 times a week. i can not do it everyday because i have a sensitive dome. however... i let the hot shower hit my head 4 a minute & i apply the oil & cream or gel. if U experiment with exfoliating try the ST. IVES apricot scrub. keep us posted.

Mmmmmmm couple of things I can think of off hand,
With the exfoliating thing, I've pretty much stopped using my HeadShed as a separate thing to do on the head but use it occasionally in the middle of my shave. What I mean is after shaving with the grain, rinse, exfoliate, wash off and apply my shave gel to go against. Smooth as!
Mentioned on another post, if your shave lube can lather well, using a good shaving brush to your noggin works great and exfoliates at the same time helping in getting a much closer shave.
Admittedly u can't do this with all oils but getting your shaving oil warm is really good not only on how it feels on your scalp but can lead to an effortless shave. I do it my Hot six oil by just putting my bottle inside a hot mug of water whilst bathing then combining it with BaldGuyz gel.
Same deal when washing prior to shaving, let the soapy lather sit on you noggin for a few minutes. Despite the length of time on this, always results in the actual shaving process to be very quick for me.

I, like a couple of other guys, use a loofa pad. I use it every day, w/ soap, follow with some "moisturizing" conditioner, then wrap the dome in a towel, well soaked in straight hot water, rung to damp, then dry off, and set up the "weapons"--brush, oil, Cuticura Soap -- an anti acne soap that seems to prevent red spots--, and my blade of choice, Fusion. Then I remove the towel, and soap again, add the oil, then spray w/ rubbing alcohol, then the Headslick--I also use some gels, like Nivea--it's a mood thing and brush in thoroughly. Then, I apply the blade, w/ and against the grain, then do a quick resoap, oil, gel or headslick and alcohol and a quick second shave. Then the post shave whip w/ hydrogen peroxide on a pad--it is a great check for any missed areas, benzoyl peroxide gel--again for spots, and Nivea loation. It's been twelve hours, in a few areas where the skin is thinnest, I have some really minor 0000 sandpaper. I'm a loofa, brush and alcohol shaving addict.

saintc -- I'm pretty sure I'm understanding you right...but I want to be absolutely sure... rubbing alcohol? sprayed on the noggin? Sounds painful as all get out. What does it do for you?

I got that idea from Warhawk, it sounded odd, but it works GREAT, a Super Sly suggestion thanks to the Warhawk.

a buddy of mine tried sth. new for exfoliating...a babybrush..
its a very soft brush and it removes dead skin cells very gentle he says without irritating the head..
In the shower:
u gently rotate the brush over the head in circular motions and the soft bristles remove the dead skin cells..sounded pretty awesome..i will definitely try that when i can shave again..
but i also got ahold of some headshed and the whole headslick, headlube stuff... hopefully it rocks..cant wait.. :)

I, like other Bros on here, recently received a gift pack of free items from howard at Bald Guyz. Included in the pack was a tube of Head Wash (sorry can't rememberthe exact name right now). Man that stuff works great..... removes all the natural oiliness from my scalp and makes those little stubbles of hair stand up like a pecker at a porno convention.

Everybody covered most of it. My main thing is opening the pores. If you shower shave let the warm/hot water run over your head for a few. If you sink shave soak a towel with hot water, wring out, and then cover your dome with it for a few. I actually don't exfoliate that much. Maybe once a week. I use a washcloth to scrub my head with the cleanser I use so I'm actually exfoliating right there.

Fellas how long do you have to do all of this? Whay i find with the SLY style is the simple way in which you can be SLY. Diffrent strokes and all, but it seems your making it very complicated and expensive. More is not always better. Just saying, is all.

I can totally hear what you're saying man. I've actually jumped in the shower, washed, jumped out, and sink shaved real quick before. Without doing the whole routine. No exfoliating. No nothing. Just went to the sink, threw some warm water on the dome, rubbed in some cream, and shaved. Threw some cold water on and was good. Didn't really feel too different than when I take a lot of time with the usual routine. So I can see what you're saying for sure. What is your method exactly if you don't mind?

Mclovin has a point here, and most days we don't have the time to go through all the extra routine.
I usually exfoliate once a week or somoetimes every other week. And I believe most guys wash their dome before they shave it, so there's a form of it right there.
One of our bro's had mentioned in another thread that the act of shaving is exfoliating, and I agree, so we're actually exfoliating each time we shave.
There really is no need to do anything extra every day.
-
totally agree once , maybe twice a week is enough... the most important things are a sharp blade,a good shaving lubcricant and an awesome aftershave...

So, what do you use as them?
-
keeping in simple and stylish..
warm shower Extra Virgin olive Oil all over my head nice and easy..
mach3 turbo razor , blade , wash dry my blade , coat it with olive oil, makes it sharp as almost new.
use the extra virgin O.O as a lotion azwell...
Used many products after being on this site, this works the best, for me.
use the st.Ives one in a blue moon or that special nite lol...
Hate the shaving creams, gels no comparison in front of the Extra Virgin O.O
-
i'll try the Headslick and Headlube in about 3-4 Weeks...and Mach3 all the way :@`
i didnt shave for about 2,5 weeks now and i hate the hair...it itches and looks unfamiliar... :( :)
