hello fellow chrome domes: will U b passing out candy this halloween? i'll start: yes... we will B passing out snickers & reeses peanut butter cups. i've noticed that each year the # of "trick or treaters" have decreased each year. it definitely wasn't the same when i was a little boy growing up in the chicagoland area. every kid (back in the day) did the "trick or treat" thing. my brother & i (along with all the neighborhood kids) would make R rounds & fill a shopping bag full of candy. :D O0 O0
i don't blame present day parents 4 not allowing their kids 2 venture out & do the "trick or treat" thing. with this crazy world & everything happening... U can't blame 'em. so... how 'bout U? will U B passing out any candy at your home this halloween? also... have U noticed the "decrease" amount of "trick or treaters" in your neighborhood compared 2 your childhood? if U r a parent... will U allow your kids 2 "trick or treat"? sometimes... i feel kinda sorry 4 2day's kids. :( what's your story?

Yep,
You bring out a good point about less T&T out there, I always get stuff I like so left-overs are not a problem.

No, because the complex I live in does not allow trick or treaters.....usually the caretakers of the complex sit by the two driveways coming in just to keep the kids out....I don't agree with it ... :(
-
I am undecided. The new place is right by the road. I may kill all the lights and go over the parental units and enjoy their trick or treaters.
-
Absolutely. It's one of the high points of my year.
-
We've always passed out candy and done lots of decorating on halloween, and in our last house got plenty of kids (and young adults). But, since we're living in the marriot, I don't think we'll have kids knocking on our door.
So, not this year ....
-
Nope - I'll be helping my wife run the annual fall festival at church. I'm going in scrubs as a x-ray tech since I have to work that night.
-
Yes, Warhawk, I will be helping out on Halloween. Also, like GAslick, I will also be helping out with our church's harvest festival. We'll have over 1,000 kids at our celebration and I'll be helping out with one of those big blow-up kids rides.
-
I'll be giving out candy for about the first hour or so Mel and then I will enjoying some old horror flicks with friends and do my passing out there. >:D
-
Nope I will be at work. I never take off on Halloween so that the people with kids can have a chance to takeoff and take their kids trick or treating.
-
Actually, the crime rate against kids is the same now as it ever was, it's just we didn't used to have 24 hour cable news channels and Amber Alerts that let everybody in the world know when a kid goes missing for a few hours. More kids are in danger from not getting exercise because their parents don't let them out than could possibly be saved by spreading fear. (The guy passing out flyers on this topic at the train station was shocked when I told him my views!)
I moved into a new apartment building, in a neighborhood mostly of single-family homes, so I'll have to ask the neighbors. My guess is that only the kids from the building would stop by.
-
Probably so. We get alot of neigborhood kids and children from adjacent subdivisions.
-
Yes.
In the UK it has grown over recent years. Not originally a tradition over here and certainly something that we would have dreamed of doing as kids I'm against it on principle.
I don't actualy mind the smaller kids coming round that have dressed up. Mostly they're with parents and only go to those houses with decorations that are obviously going to participate. I object to the slovenly 14 year olds that use it as an excuse to intimidate and beg.
My wife won't let me beat them senseless with a rubber skeleton though.

StumpyDave, You have no idea how bad i want to hide in the bushes with the water hose and a good sprayer waiting for older kids who think that halloween is a good reason to go make a fool of themselves.

lol..My buddies and I used to make sure that the older kids earned their keep by scaring the crap out of them on Halloween night >:D
For this year, I plan to go to a party.
... as of now, no one i know is having a party. but thats still the plan. :)
-
Well we live on a mountain at the end of the road with one neighbor. We haven't had a trick or treater in the six years we've been there.
We go into town with the kids............

My mom was a elementary school teacher and she always gave out pencils and those little erasers. She said everyone else gave enough candy.
