Title: should I tell people its MPB?
Post by: TheyCallMeTheHead on October 06, 2008, 09:37:02 PM
Hey, Im 22 and have a shaved head cuz im losing my hair. When people ask me about it, I usually tell them I do it for the style, instead of telling them Im losing my hair, which to me is really embarrassing, especially at my age.

Suprisiningly, alot of people (girls more than guys) believe me when I say I do it for style, especially at my age when not too many people are afflicted with this disease yet.

Is it wierder for people to think Im crazy and that I actually prefer a shaved head for style, or for me to admit this genetic flaw I have and tell them I'm balding therefore shaved the head?

You don't owe anybody any explanations.  Just say you did it because you wanted to -- which is the truth, isn't it?   ;)

Or if you want to be a smartass, ask them why they chose the haircut they have.   >:D

For some the loss of hair is a shock.

For me, I was lucky. All the guys on both sides of my family have been bald most of my life. Since I was old enough to realize the concept of hair loss I knew I was (from my perspective at the time) doomed. However after a while I embraced what would happen and when the retreat became significant enough I went smooth.

I do know that some people want to fight it or have a hard time accepting it just as there are those that embrace it. Either way be confident about who you are.

Who cares if you are losing hair or just want to get a hair cut every day, it is your choice, and you chose to cut your hair every day.

I don't think it matters, if they do, are they worth the trouble?

afflicted with this disease

genetic flaw

The first step is realizing that its not affiliated with the above words, then you'll be comfortable talking about it.

It's your choice if you tell people that you're losing your hair or not.  Your hairloss may increase later, and people will just notice; you won't need to tell them.

There is nothing to be embarrassed about. There are millions out there your own age... blah blah!
What your could say is, Mother Nature was going to take it anyway, so I figured I'd show her who's boss!

But for the Ladies... say whatever the hell will get you into their pants  >:D
