I know nothing of NASCAR....

Therefore it must be an inferior and insignificant waste of time.

If anyone is interested, we started a SlyBaldGuys group on Yahoo! Fantasy NASCAR. PM me for the group info if you would like to join. I won't post the info here because of all the spammers we've had recently.

I like earnhardt jr.    And as far as who needs a good running into the wall, Brian Vickers.

He took out the 8 and jimmie johnson on the last lap during the chase.

Big Tony Stewart fan here!  I like Junior too, but his daddy was my all-time favorite.  I actually got to meet Richard and Kyle Petty and a bunch of other drivers when they came through Wyoming a few years ago.  The Pettys, Matt Kenseth, Terry Labonte and the rest of the drivers were very cool, especially considering that they had just ridden 150 miles in 100 degree heat on the Kyle Petty charity ride.

My favorite driver is Billy Bobby Buddy Ricky Dicky Joe.
I don't get the interest in NASCAR. But then again, I watch golf on TV.

To each their own, I guess.

The race itself was pretty boring until the last 50 laps or so... and what a finish!  Nothing like seeing a driver and car cross the finish line on it's roof and on fire!!  O0

Just curious...why does everyone hate on Jeff Gordon? Is it because he has all his teeth?

i saw something one time where a driver said it best, "What other job can you have where 150,000 people come to watch you work. 75,000 of them love you, and 75,000 of them hate you?" gordon is a great driver. i just  don't like him.

Apparently, you're not alone. I thought he was from California and thus not well liked by the Nascar fans in the south. Then again, I don't follow auto racing.

The May races are the best!  I live near Charlotte Motor Speedway.  (grew up 5 miles from there).

That would rock! The Sly crew all shining the domes, eating fried chicken, drinking beer, and yelling "EARNHARDT!!!!!!"...ha ha

Yeah, it's in my family.  My uncle raced the local Winston Cup series here in CA.  Has raced several times at Infinion Raceway (Ol' Sears Point).  Heck, I even took a few dates to his races, and yes, this was in Cali.

If my family isn't racing cars, then they are racing dirt bikes.  Of course, that's when we're not shooting guns.

My dad and his buddies used to race dirt track a lot. I love that stuff....I grew up with the saying "Speed costs money.....how fast ya wanna go?"

Richard Petty was once asked what it took to be a driver. He replied that you have to be able to turn left and go fast. That's about it.

At Daytona, I wanted martin to win after earnhardt got in that nasty wreck.   But harvick got a massive push.

The jack daniels car crossing the line flipped over was something you originally thought you would only see in the movies.

I also like stewart and kurt busch took him out early too.    Tony might have won it if it wasn't for that.

Sorry for bumping up an old topic, but as I wanted to start one about NASCAR, I figured I'd do a search first. And answer this question.  O0

Those guys may turn left, but imagine doing this at over 200 MPH (less with restrictor plate racing) when the traffic you're following is about an inch away from you, you can't turn your head left or right (because of the Hans device), depending on a spotter yelling in a radio to tell you where traffic is, and sit in a car for over 4 hours at temperatures that sometimes exceed 100 degrees in the cockpit and can't stop to go to the rest room.

They make it look easy.  O0

Next year should be interesting for Jr. Leaving DEI, having Jeff Gordon as a new partner. Thats one season I'm going to follow close.

I'm not a big fan of Gordon, but he's running one helluva season this year. If he keeps going, he'll deserve the championship.
