Title: Should It Stay Or Should It Go?
Post by: rar on September 22, 2008, 05:22:15 PM
Okay, you guys are obviously biased and I'm pretty sure how this poll will turn out. But gimmie some comments! I will admit I'm more than a bit worried about making the leap to full on baldness. It seems like big dudes (Mr Cleans) can easily pull it off, but us string beans just look like alien creeps. What do you think? Does weight matter? I'm 25 years old, 5'11, 140lbs for reference.

My biggest fear is looking like a nazi skinhead or a chemo patient. Does this worry you guys at all?

You're basically there, so just shave it.  You're not going to look like either a Nazi or a chemo patient.

Ryan, It looks like you're almost there already.  Might as well go all the way.  It will always grow back.  But I bet that you won't want it to.

What's your big fear??  I mean your almost bald already.....if you don't like it you can grow it back in a couple weeks.....bottom line....do what makes you happy   O0

Not biased here, I'm usually pretty direct in my statements. Just check some of my other post  :)
First, I'm 6'2" and at 195lbs... trying to punch the gut back to 185 or even 190. Never been called a Nazi or asked if I was a chemo patient.... but thats a great story for the ladies now that I think about it  >:D
Anyway, back to you.
Obviously you have thought about it, your 25 years old with the MPB thing happening, and I would have guessed you were about 30. You ride a crotch rocket  O0 and seem to be somewhat athletic unless the pic of you was taken from inside the car you used to get up on the cliff.
Your adventurious in spirit but seem somewhat mellow in your pic.
Bottom line, hell yes you should shave it. If you want to experience a feeling like no other, you gotta try it once and give it 30 days. Check out the shaving routines forum and smooth the dome. If you don't like it your hair will grow back to where you currently are in 4 to 5 days.
GO for it  8)

You look fine and as others have pointed out, you're nearly there anyway.  To most people,  you already have a "shaved" head and I doubt that most will even notice the difference once the deed is done.

Shave it dude. What's the fuss? Are you afraid it won't grow back? Trust me, it grows back far faster than you'll want it to.

Ryan, I'd like to go on record as saying what Bear just did. Considering you already keep it tight, take Friday off work and shave Thurs night. If you don't like it (which you will) by Monday you'll have a normal shadow back and most people won't even comment on the tight doo.

Sly and be free

Shave it off!

Being already smooth on the forehead it won't change your overall appearance,
so there won't be shocked reactions.

Give it a try, and if you don't like it (very unlikely!) it will grow back.

Please let us know how things will go.

I can't see the pictures, but trust me, the age/weight shouldn't be an issue. I'm 20, 5'6" and only 118 lbs. I love the new look.

Also, don't worry about looking like a skinhead. If anything, you'll look hardcore and nobody will mess with you despite your size.

Joe noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo don’t do it !!!!!
Kidding welcome to the group man, really shouldn't be a problem for u if you did it as the guys have said u can easily grow it back

You've a very valid  point in your concern but remember that stereotypes or assumptions about people especially a negative one such as  the neo nazi image are reaffirmed by the persons manner. It’s human nature to make assumptions on people and it can be particularly sad if u attribute all kind a things  to someone on just how they look. Colour, sex, the clothes they wear etc. It was touched on another thread but most sly guys in the way they are i.e how they live, dull people's perceptions of them anyway. Anyone who perceives your look by fundamentally misplacing and continues to do so, frankly man, would u want to know them in them n the first place?

Being sly is very much embedded to most of our cultures nowadays. From our youth, music cultures to how guys get older. I went BBC  at Uni couple of years back as it was fitting to the stuff I did & with the guys I roll with and  still remains in my professional capacity.

This group is probably the best example of what I'm getting at. We a have mix of people from varying backgrounds. See no biggie.  O0

The pictures I posted with hair make it kind of invisible since my hair was so blonde. The hair is a lot more noticible in person than in pictures. So I shaved my head last week! All I've gotten are positive comments, but then, I surround myself with really nice people who wouldn't say anything negative anyway. Personally, I don't really like it right now. My head looks elongated and weird like an alien or something. But I've got lots of issues about the way I look so I don't know if I'm really objective. 25 years of singlehood will do that to a person. :-\ I'm going to keep shaving it every day for a month and re-evaluate it then. I do look pretty badass in sunglasses at least!  8)

Yes I have to agree, the sly/sunglasses look is bad ass.

I too was unsure at first of being sly. A little over a month later, and I hate missing a day without the razor.

There's usually some apprehension when changing your appearance - that's why we swear by the 30-day rule - shave it for 30 days and then decide if you like it - most members here never go back!

It's a big deal fo you, but others may have little if anything to say.

I axed a head of thinning blonde hair too. You're way too critical of yourself. Just think, no more fussing with that thinning dome. You ride a bike just like me. The freedom of being hair-free outweighs any of the negative thoughts you may be having. Just let them go and enjoy the new sly you.
