No, not from this forum, or even slydom...
At the ripe old age of 51 (well, next month) I'm ditching a cushy position at The Bank and have accepted a position at yet another startup.
What am I thinking!!!
The company has rules-based, policy-driven automation products for high-performance data centers -- a big area these days with the push towards so-called "cloud computing"-- and they detest their user interface. So they want me to come in, delete the works, and start from scratch.
I gonna be mighty busy.
I feel badly because I really like my local team and my manager, but I just can't deal with working for the soul-sucking and borderline evil Bank anymore.
Wish me luck!
(And yes, I went into my interviews confident and gleemingly sly!)

Best of Luck with the new venture. I guess we'll see you a lot less during the work day? O:O

Good luck Bear. My last 3 jobs have been start-ups. Yeah you'll be busy but it sounds like you'll make a difference.
Job satisfaction AND you get paid too!?!? Awesome!

Congratulations on the new job, Bear. Startups are alot of fun, as long as they stay in business. I worked for an internet startup, as a contractor, and they went belly-up during the .com bust. It was fun while it lasted, though ...
Glad to hear the sly interview went well. As a contractor, I do alot of interviewing and haven't done my first sly one yet.

Congratulations Booted Bear

Good luck Bear.
Funny, they had a retirement party for someone at my office today, and of course I was one of the last to walk in. I said, thank god, I have been so ready for this moment. Everyone laughed and the prez pointed out that my name wouldn't fit on the cupcakes, so I was SOL.
A change would be great ;)

Congratulations and Good Luck!

Thanks for all the good wishes guys!
This will be my 5th startup... I really must be crazy.
But the nail was hit on the head: my contribution will be one of the most visible aspects of the products to customers and venture partners, so it's an important component of the company's success. It'll be nice to be back in a position where what I do day to day actually makes a difference in the bottom line.
