One of the very few things I actually miss about going sly is my former hair stylist. I had been going to her for over 8 years, and had developed a nice friendship over this time -- and always enjoyed our conversations as I was getting my hair cut.
Anyone else miss their former stylist/barber?

No, I don't miss her at all since she still lives with me ..!! :*)) :@`

I do miss it. My old barber shop was a fun place. The Barbers where big jokesters and it was next door to the best dounut place in town. It was a good way to blow an hour on Saturday morning.

I met a guy here in town who shaves and he said that once a month on a saturday he will load up his shaving stuff, head to his old barber and has his head shaved. The barber in town here has been aruond since I was a lil kid. I think I got my first hair cut by him. Nice little shop to catch up on the gossip and he shaves this guys head for about 5 bucks. I always liked going in there too because this man is full of history. Each time you talk to him you hear about how it was when he was a kid. I mentioned this in a post long long ago, visit with the elderly...someday all that history will be gone.

I quit going to him didn't I?

since I went bald its amazing. I can stop in any barbershop and get it done or buzzed to 00000. The old days, I had one haircutter during the 70's and one guy from like 1979-1998. Nowadays anyone can do it for me and its 1/3rd of the price.

I don't miss her all that much...she sleeps next to me every night. ;D O0

I do miss my barber, but if I get a better scope for my rifle I might hit him the next time.....$15.00 for a hair cut and I only had half my hair..... shouldn't it have been half price.... #u#T3r

Even before I went sly, I cut my own hair, i would usually buzz it to 1/2 inch.

at $33 a clip; I dont miss him.

NWTRNR,
As a barber it's touching that you miss your stylist. :'( Hugs all around!
But seriously there are guys in our shop that stop in and don't really need cuts they just come to socialize, get an edge up or shave basically just to socialize. Any sly guy that misses his stylist or the just barbershop experience should grow a few days of stubble and visit the barber at least a couple times a year. They will find hair you didn't know you had (ears neck etc)! If you can't stand to go a few days without shaving, you could just stop by and buy the stylist coffee, lunch, or a car.
The preceding message was brought to you by the American Coalition of Sly Barbers.....

I can't even remember... it's been that long since I've been to a barber! I was buzzing my own head for years before shaving it clean (over 4 years now)...
So in response to the topic.... no, I can't say that I do!

B4 i went "sly", i would get a haircut every week at the same barbershop 4 over 10 years. the owner of the shop was a retired navy man who i became friends with along with the other barbers. i really enjoyed having my weekley haircuts because of the "fellowship" that all the barbers & customers shared with each other. matter of fact... i try 2 visit once a month & let my barber shave my dome smoooooth.

I still take my sons to the Great Clips that I used to go to. Shortly after going SLY, the manager told me that it was guys like me that were going to run her out of business. ;D

Of course, he's a great guy and it's just that now I don't use his excellent services. I mean for years he helped keep up appearances until I reached a point, entirely not his responsibility, where I had to face that no matter how skillful the cut, I was and very much looked the part of a balding old f*rt. I had long before known that I wouldn't do that. In fact he gladly buzzed me about six weeks before I went to the blade--I had just done the buzz too late to be able to live as a buzzed guy--the hairline was shot--uneven, and too thin on top. Under any light at all, I looked like I was a balding guy w/ a fringe, and, pardon the rhyme, I cringe. It had to go. I mean although I might not have a perfect bald head, no one and I mean no one whomsoever, has a good head for a dying mop. In my opinion any balding guy is going to look better clean compared to thin sparce uneven growth hanging from the top of the dome.

You can still go back to get your facial hair groomed.
I definitely don't miss mine, I haven't seen her since I was a little boy.

Don't exactly miss my barber, but he was a great influence on my going Sly because he was the first shaved bald dude I'd ever actually known. Every time I went in there (usually for a number 1 or 2 buzz) I wished I had the courage to ask him to shave it all off, but I never did.
8)Reckon he'd have given me a great shave if he'd still been working in the barbers locally, but he left just before I went sly. Don't know where he is now, but I sort of owe my sly look to his influence! 8)

Ditto..... wait, not FR8's lady .... you know what I mean, right? :P

I used to hate getting my hair cut mainly because I hated my hair (which makes it all the more ironic that I have problems with going bald :/O), however I would say that the woman who used to cut my hair played a huge part in the process of me going sly.
I live in a part of the world where people generally call a spade a spade, she said to me one day as she was cutting the back of my head, "Are you sure you dont want me to cut it all off?" we then had a conversation about thinning hair and how it was better to go shorter gracefully than hold onto a thin covering! She suggested a number 2 and I insisted on going the whole way and going for a number 1 - that was it and my hair has never been longer than that since. A while after that I went to Budapest for a weekend and did the deed the whole way!

Yes I do. Before I shaved my head I move about 1 1/2 hours from my home town.
But I would still go back to get my hair cut.
The Gal who cut my hair had been doing it for over 15 years and was an old friend.
She'd call me when she would move to another salon.
She was short, had hair down almost to her knees and large breast :@` which she'd press against you.
Usually when I go back to visit it's on Sunday so she's not working, and as she always has scumball boyfriend I can't visit her house. :Xo!
