Title: peanut butter...
Post by: warhawk on September 10, 2008, 03:02:50 PM
hello fellow chrome domes:  i just got back from the grocery store.  on the list was peanut butter... we usually eat jif creamy peanut butter.  i was wondering  what type of peanut butter & brand everyone eats.   is it jif, skippy, peter pan, or others?  creamy?  crunchy?  on a side note... when was the last time U ate a good PB& J sandwich & do U cut the edges off or leave it on.   btw... it was approximately 2 weeks ago when i ate a good PB&J sandwich with the edges on.  so... what's your peanut butter story?

I just wanted to give you some credit for always coming up with fresh ideas for threads.

 O0

Oh... I ate PB sandwiches almost every day last week, creamy Jif. Been a while since I've had a good old PB&J though, might have to do that soon.

I actually had peanut butter on a slice of toast this morning.
We usually get skippy creamy, but I'm not really particular. Though, I can recall a few favorites...
1. Adams All Natural. We had that a lot as a kid, not certain it's even made anymore.
2. Planters Chunky. Yes, Planters! They used to make a peanut butter that was out of this world.

Actually, I just checked, Adams is still made

Peter Pan Creamy or Jif Creamy.  ALways leave the crust on...thats the best part.

OK now Mel....lets take it one step further....when you have the worlds most ultimate PB&J sandwich...what do you chase it with???  Me gotta have that tall cold glass of MOO MOO JUICE.

OK...another idea...damn you are good Mel....typically...2 slices of bread , pb and jelly slapped together...but....BUT....is there any alternatives?  I sometimes like to take plain Pringles and put about 4 or 5 of them single layered and smash em between ....now right there BOYS AND GIRLS...is a Damn Good PB&J

Oh and yes....buuckkweet pointed something out too.....Jam or Jelly?  We always use Grape Jam....easier to spread...

Amazing how much you can talk about PB&J

Always eat Jif Creamy with Welch's grape jelly.....Tall glass of milk is good also but I like a side of either potato or macroni salad with my sandwiches....always have ...and also never cut the crust off....the kids were the only ones who insisted on that....!!

Crust on
I eat JIF almost everyday ^-^
Smuckers grape O0
Drink options are diet pepsi or chocolate milk
Plain chip or doritos
The best version of PB sammich is PB & cheese on Toast :@` :@` :@`

I usually get some kind of organic natural stuff. I think it's made by Smuckers. You have to keep it refrigerated though or it separates very quickly. It's not as good tasting as some of the other kinds I have tried, but I guess it's supposed to be better for you.

I like peanut butter, bannana and honey on whole wheat bread.
It's messy but GOOD! Especially with a side of milk (Chocolate milk is the best)

I like peanut butter but I eat it perhaps only once a year. it has too many calories and makes people fat.

I love Adams Crunchy!  I  could eat it by the spoonful!

When I was in Canada 2 months ago, I bought some Kraft Creamy Peanut Butter, which in not available here in the US.  It wasn't natural, but it was good!

By the way, Kraft now owns Planters USA, so I wonder if they would re-introduce peanut butter but with the Planters brand?

Just want to point out to everyone that this is NOT TRUE. While PB is very calorically dense, the amount you put on your toast/sandwiches is very, very little (sub 100 calories, easily). Whether I'm leaning out or bulking up, natural PB (the type that separates) is always part of my diet in some context.

I don't think we get the brands that you are talking about in the UK.
We generally go for Tesco's own brand crunchy, although SunPat is very similar but more expensive alternative.
PB&J doesn't seem popular on this side of the pond - I've never tried it.
I used to like a slice of crusty bread spread with English mustard and then a layer of PB.  Something of a kick to it.

My younger son lives on the stuff I think.  Without that and ketchup he'd certainly starve.  When we went on holiday a while ago he asked "Will the chefs in Greece know how to make peanut butter sandwiches?"  We took a jar in his bag just in case they didn't so that he could show them.

A follow up.... crusts on, grape JAM (not a big jelly guy), on whole wheat bread. Usually wash it down with ice cold water (water is my drink of choice about 90% of the time).

Any of you guys ever eat a PB sandwich with marshmallow cream (that stuff in a jar). It's called a "fluffer-nutter sandwich". They were rare treats when we were kids. I can't imagine eating that now......

JIF Creamy, almost everyday.  Most morning I toast a whole wheat bagle and put peanut butter on the top.  :@`  Other times it may be a table spoon of nutin but peanut butter.  PB&J always with the crust on.

Man, it looks like all of you are grape guys.  I guess grape jelly is the iconic jelly for PBJ, but not a fan.
Strawberry, blackberry, or raspberry freezer jam fer me.  As for peanut butter, whatever's available.  2 slices con crust.

any of you do the smuckers peanut butter and jelly mix?  i'm too scared to step into that world  :-\

What's up my Sly Bro.'s,

My favorite PB & J consists of any natural organic crunchy brand, with organic strawberry preservative, a large banana sliced in half then 3 sections, then I gotta add my morning star veggie bacon. Guy's let me tell you this bacon taste better than meat. I'm a peanut butter fiend, I could eat it every day from sandwich to spoon to fork to finger to ginger snap cookies to ..... ooh sorry I was getting carried away, I started to water at the chops.. Anywho, I have to have the crust on and I prefer the end slices of the wheat bread, sometimes the end is heartier. Well my bros. gotta go and hook up a sammich right now. Later !!! By the way, I think that sammich that I mentioned was something like the Elvis Pressley sammich.

- Peace
