Title: Geocaching
Post by: The Zook on September 08, 2008, 11:11:29 AM
Any of you also geocachers? I picked up the hobby this past winter and really enjoy it, just wondering if there's anyone else here into it as well.

My Bald Bro! I had never even heard of this before your thread. Sounds very interesting and if I were REALLY retired, I'm sure that I would be involved with Geocaching. It's all about embracing our global humanity to me. Because after all aren't we all human first?

My dad does that.  It sounds fun, but seriously, I dont have time driving all over God's green earth looking for these hidding clues.  Not saying I would never do it, because I like going out on venture hunts...hell my whole life is venture hunt. lol.

It is a great time... whether alone collecting my thoughts (or escaping them) or out with the family (kids love the treasure hunts).

Plus it gets my lazy butt outside doing something.

Ow man I got into geocaching at the start of spring this year.  I love it.  My girlfriend hates it.  Spent 250 bucks on a new GPS.

I've been geocaching for a couple of years now. Very enjoyable to get out into the woods with a mission LOL

I like to have any reason to get out of the house and go into the woods, or go FISHING..

Good to see some fellow cachers here... I only have 40 finds and 7 hides so I'm not one of those die hard folks, but I do enjoy it... besides, if I did all the local ones right away I'd have to drive farther and farther out to get one haha.

I was amazed at how many there were within 15 miles of our little farm town.

I haven't tried geocaching yet -- but have done a small bit of letterboxing when my kids were younger. Which I gather is kinda similar. Anyone else shun the electronics and tried this before? You just need a compass and a map. Here's some more on it -- http://www.letterboxing.org (http://www.letterboxing.org)

I found out about geocaching while taking a piss in the woods one day.  I noticed something in the hole of a tree and it happened to be a box full of treasure.  I later explained this to a buddy who explained what it was all about.  I've been on a few hunts since, but my car was recently burglarized and they got my gps...
