Title: Is It True ?
Post by: Bald-n-Philly on September 07, 2008, 07:17:21 PM
What's happening all of my Sly Bros.? 8)  I have one quick question for all of you diehard fusion users, and that is, is it really true that the blades cost so much because they're supposed to last for approximately 30 days ? Please help me to understand this. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Peace to all those who are SLY !!! O0

I can't help you much on this, I've never heard of a time line for using a blade.

I have never used a blade for longer than 2 weeks.  I could probably get a little more out of it, but I would rather not  risk the consequences.  Spaying my blades with rubbing alcohol has helped to extend the life of my blades from 1 week to 2.

Same here.....I change my fusion blade every 2 weeks.....it could probably go longer but I don't want to push it....

Depends on how often you shave.

I use the fusion around my ears and on my face, and change the blade every 3 weeks. Seems to work ok. Use the Headblade on the rest of my noggin.

I don't like Gillette Fusion for several reasons.
It's more expensive than Mach3 and Sensor Excel blades and....
it's like dragging a giant platform across your skin.

This guy totally agrees with my assessment.

I think the razor life varies per person...  typically a blade (Atra for the head, Fusion for the face) will last me about a week, sometimes a little longer.

I would say "NO" that's not why they are more expensive.

Just a good quality, highly engineered little giant.  For me, it's worth the added expense....they ROCK my noggin, man.  O0

For those always complaining about the price....take a look at the big picture and be consistent..

How often do you grab a latte at Starbucks?

How often do you eat out at a restaurant?

I can see just simply saying "I'm not gonna pay that much for a stinkin' razor."

But some of you have switched razors......like buying the FUSION is the single deciding factor that will send you spiraling into bankruptcy...

I totally agree with Rob.....it's like anything....some people like it....some don't.....for me it's the best razor I have ever used and will continue to do so until something better comes along...

I love the Fusion and it's NEVER cut me... ever, not even when I messed up and really should have gotten cut :)

There is nothing that gives me a closer, more comfortable shave.

So why don't I use it? :D

1. I prefer the 'action' the Headblade provides and it's sped up my shave 10 fold.
2. I don't want to buy 2 different blades, so I use the Sensor handle for my face.
3. With a quality shaving lotion/gel/oil I have found I can get a close/comfortable shave with a less expensive blade.

Hmmm... what was this topic about again?  ~Z)

Hey Rob, I totally agree with you. I've been using the H.B. for over a year and also the mach 3. So, I decided to give the fusion a try cause rite aid had them on sale and I got it and man I tell you the shave is awsome. The reason why I asked this question about the time on the blade is cause I was in CVS and I could have sworn that it said guaranteed to last 30 days or so. Then I asked this young lady that was working in the shaving supplies department and she said that is why they are so expensive. So, I decided to ask my Sly Bros. to confirm this. Thanks again for the replies.

PEACE !!!

I use a Fusion Power, and I find all the whining about cost a little silly, at least in my case I was spending $30 a visit to the barber trying to cut it to hide the advancing MPB.  I can't lose but I find the blades at 8 for $23 and change, so if I change once a week--and I do--I'm still ahead of the game on blades alone.  For the pleasure, I'm not going to worry.
Plus, no nicks, no cuts, no irritation and a super close cut on top with the fine sparce hairs and with the coarser stuff on the back of the head and the sides too.  The trimming blade leaves the ear area perfect.

Yep, but people have to whine about something...
