Title: Flaky Head
Post by: GASlick on September 03, 2008, 10:45:18 PM
Hey my sly brothers!

I went on a four day camping trip over Labor Day.  We stayed at a campground on a lake and had a great time grilling, drinking and swimming.  I used sunscreen often.  I didn't burn or anything, but now my head is flaky, dry and itches like crazy.

I've been using Aloe, but it only helps for a few minutes.  I think it must be really dry from the sun, sand and lake water.  Any ideas for some long lasting relief?  It's driving me crazy.

Maybe try some good lotion?
I've never experienced what you are saying. If it's not sunburned skin peeling, I'm assuming your skin it just really really dry.
I wonder if using Head and Shoulders on a bald scalp would help out any?

Stephen-

I use the Nivea for Men Extreme after Shave Balm....GREAT STUFF!

It's about $6 for a bottle but a little goes a long way. I use it on both my face and head.

One of the reasons I shave my head is to reduce flaking. Shaving my head is the equivalent of exfolliating my skin. I have a skin condition on my scalp, and shaving gives me relief from it.

Did you shave during your camping? If you didn't, that might be the reason you've got some flaking.

That was a big reason for me also. I shaved my head to let the sun and fresh air get at my scalp and never had another problem with it.

I know all you hard a$$ men will look down on this, but a couple of years ago I had a real bad case of flaky skin......The girl living next door to me said "try a wax treatment"  It's the wax that they put on their hands and feet to get rid of dead skin (I guess).  She had some and gave me 2 treatments  and it worked like a dream.....and I mean a dream.  No flakes, and left the dome soft and smooooooth.......

So don't laugh,  and it wont take any hair off the head either......painless

Thanks for the iniput guys.  I did shave during my trip.  I try to shave every day.  I bought some BaldGuys Moisutrizing Gel today.  maybe that will fix me up.  I didnt' sunburn, as I use sunscreen constantly, so it's got to be extremely dry skin.

Thanks everybody!

I've worn a lot worse than that.   ;D

I have reindeer antlers I wear around Christmas, a shamrock top hat for St. Patrick's Day, a Uncle Sam hat for July, so forth and so on.

I have antlers that attach with suction cups......and they really stay on a long time,  but leave round, red dots on the head for days after I wear them..... :Xo!

Only wore them once because of that side effect.
