hello hello chrome domes!
what do you ex marines and any other ex-servicemesn remember from your days in the military?
-
Lots and lots of stuff, both good and bad....
-
Well let's see there was a sh*t load of "hurry up and wait." :*))

Aw yes the "hurry up and wait", Don't forget the "what the he!! took you so long" right after that.
-
Alerts, call forward, all the deployments. Being constantly exhausted, cold, hungry and wet! All the great friends along the way, the jokes, and good times and serving with Great Americans. The "Bad" of out of control political correctness and the decay of the military from a profession of "arms" to a job for pregnant mommies.
-
Respecting NCO's and dealing with sergeants. There IS a big difference! ;)
-
Buku crap and some memories both good and bad.....!!
-
thanks!
-
Spending 6 years in the Marines gives you A LOT of stories and a LOT of memories... There is never just 1 thing that stands out, but depending on the conversation, there are MANY different stories that can be retold and relevant
-
Army from '62 to '68. So many thngs I wouldn't know where to start. Hurry up and wait for openers and then the old "saddle up" like we were late for something.
-
Yeah, too many stories to tell. Lotsa ridiculous regulations. Blowing up abandoned tanks was always fun.
-
LOL, yes that was always fun. A leisurely day out on the range with my trusty 3.2 inch rocket launcher aka bazooka.
-
eh... I was kinda partial to the MK-19... I dunno what I liked more... the fact that it's a fully automatic grenade launcher... or the rapid fare BOOM-BOOM-BOOM from the rounds exploding on their target
-
Unfortunatly I never got to play with that toy. How about using an M-1 as a grenade launcher. Really scary.
-
Always liked to carry a Heckler/Koch MP5 submachine gun
-
OMG, that's a beautiful weapon.
-
Amateurs! ;) You haven't lived until you've fired a TOW missile.

TOW Missle......naw, You havent lived till you fired the M-24 at a target and hit it at 900 meters or more.......
-
An M-24 looks like fun, but if you really wanted a "big bang", before I was a TOW trainer, I trained people on the 106mm recoilless rifle.

Now that was a big bang! Out both ends!
I'm amazed that I still have any hearing left.

As an Air Force guy I am proud to say I have been lucky to fire (From small to large) M-9, M-4, M-16A2, M-203, M-79, M-14, M-249, M-60, M-240, M-2, MK-19, LAW, 81MM Mortar. I taught Desert Warfare at Nellis AFB, in Las Vegas for a good portion of my ten years, and had a blast! I have carried a wide range of those weapons on deployments all over South East Asia, and like I said I am pretty happy as an Air Force guy to have worked with so many cool toys and different branches of service! (I posted a couple pics in the before gallery, for all you guys that have been there, look close at the pic of my M-4 and uniform in Iraq, nothing on it but a blood type for that mission!) ;)
P.S. I don't get much sleep! Know what I mean?
-
Hmmm, spec ops were we.?
-
Just an Air Force guy!

I am going to try and post a couple pics of me, Quinton"Rampage"Jackson, and Mike Bisping from the UFC. I used to teach at the Air Force's Desert Warefare Training Center in Vegas, and an old bud of mine got us some range time. Bisping was a pretty good shot, but Rampage, well I will not speek of his weapons ability! (He wil knock you out though!)
Pic(1) Bisping shooting an M-4 with 203
Pic(2) Bisping on the M-249
Pic(3) All of us with a weapons expert for the rifle I am holding, a new sniper 50 that sounds like a pellet gun! (NAAAAAASTY!)

What the hell here is a good one of Rampage!

Now that is one sweet weapon.....If I had the money I would have one of those.....Why I need one I have no idea...........just want one.
-
I would have to say my favorite would be the 240. Big enough of a weapon to cause fear, sends lots of brass down range, and it is man portable. hell when the 50 is away the 240 will play :)

All you ground pounders crack me up with your little weapons...
How about sinking barges with a Harpoon Anti-Ship missle?
Or a SM-2 ER that was doing mach 2.5 by the time it left the rail?
Or sending 5 inch rounds to the range at Viaccas (sp)??
Or obliterating drones with CIWS at 3000 rounds per minute??
That's just the stuff we did on MY ship... we won't even talk about battleships and the massive 16" guns... :x!

I think they are talking about weapons that can be carried into a battle.
