Title: I'm having trouble with the back of my head, any advice (electric)?
Post by: Ckster on August 16, 2008, 08:33:36 AM
Hello everyone.

I am new to shaving myself, used to go to the barber every week, but that started to get more expensive. I bought a Panasonic ES8077 linear shaver on recommendations from this very forum. The thing is awesome on the ol' noggin for the most part, but the back of my head is always a problem. I always seem to have small patches of hair that I can never get rid of, and anything from the neck up to the base of my skull is a flat out disaster. I've tried shaving the area multiple times, and have also tried the trimmer that comes with the panasonic, to no avail.

I am curious what you guys do back there. I am halfway tempted to take my mach 3 to the area and see what happens, but I have really sensitive skin and would prefer to avoid that.

Any help would be appreciated.

First off, WELCOME !!

I don't use electric....but with razor shaving it's prolly the same.

I imagine it's a matter of getting adept at feeling back there with yer hand.

Whether its the back (where I can't see) or anywhere else....it's the feel test that determines when I'm finished....rub everywhere...every which way to make sure it's all SMOOTH and no rough spots...

Only the feel test can find rough spots.

I used an electric for a short time.  Run the shave the same direction your hand was going when you felt the hair.  This should be against the grain.  If that doesn't get it, the hair may be too long for the shaver.

I use the Panasonic myself and love the results it gives.
The back of the neck is my most sensitive area as well. I'm not sure I understand completely, are you saying you have long hairs on the back of your neck or just stubble that you cant seem to get?
