Red, Robmeister did NOT have the sarcasm key lock on when he posted that photo. That's really him. He was a cool looking kid back then. I'm NOT being sarcastic when I'm saying that. I sincerely mean it. He ROCKED that look back then and now he rocks sly. O0
My favorite cut before SLY was a high and tight. Unfortunately the high was getting higher, and tight was getting tighter, so the only practical way to go was SLY. 8)
-
OK, OK Robmeister rocks that look. But not as much as my mullet guy rocks the look. Sarcasm key firmly down. :*))

Red, I think you missed the whole point of this thread. I believe "teenthatshavessometimes" intended this thread to be about a favorite haircut that we personally sported before going Sly.
My guess is that Ryan actually sported a Mohawk and dog20 a "tanziki", whatever that is? I don't think Marty had a mullet or you red sported an "achy breaky".
-
My guess is that Ryan actually sported a Mohawk [...]
Yep I did! More than once, even

Well, up until two months ago I sported a mullet until I was spotted by a troop of renegade Sly Guys who held me down and shaved my head. I want to take this opportunity to thank BaldRob, Paul, Nomad, etc. for that. :*))

I had long hair for 10 years before I went sly. I had hair all one length down below my shoulders. Wife hated it because it was nicer than hers.
I loved it, but after 10 years it was time for a change.
-
Flat-top. But that was way back in the early 80's. Been buzzing guard-less since 1984 or so and went sly back in 2005.
I'll see if any pics survived...
-
Never really had a favorite haircut, but I have had alot of hair cuts that I hated Ha Ha.....Well I was forced by my old man to have a flat top till I was 13 yrs old. Upon turning 13 I was allowed to have my hair anyway I wanted, so I went to the opposite extreme. didnt get another hair cut all through High School and beyond. I think it was 6 months after the time I turned 19 I got a hair cut. (Thank God I can't find those pic's) Since then it has been short, short, really short, then SLY.........

Not bad, but the last time I had a picture taken like that it was at the Sheriffs station......Kidding

well, i just want to hear everyones thoughts, but that was funny, but not exactly an answer to my question
-
I was never entirely comfortable with any hairstyles I had. I got compliments on the messy shaggy prissy boy hair from the ladies. You guys know the style I'm talking about? You style it to look like you look great right out of bed? lol I guess that was my favorite, cause ladies liked it.
-
i have had that hair before, but my parents hated it!
-
lol I don't actually LIKE the look. But it was the only look with hair that got me compliments.

you look better sly, not bad with hair, but better sly
-
I know. I agree 100%

STAY SLY!

When it comes to getting great hair, don't look any further than your own mirror. Whether you're a "heart," "round," or "oval," your best cut is determined by your face. Everyone's face is different and it's important to understand that every hairstyle is not for every face shape. To accentuate balance and beauty, strive for a hairstyle that works with your particular face shape. That strategy will not only give you your best look, but also emphasize your best features. Be sure to bring this up with your stylist and make it an important determination in your new look.

My best cut certainly would not be determined by my facial features. I guess the amount of hair you have on your head has nothing to do with that determination??? :/O

Get us those pics, BootedBear !
My favorites include the flattop with very short sides (had one for a while before going sly). Also , for men with a full head of thick hair you can't beat the slicked back look, with no part.

I used to have my hair slicked back with no parting, and I quite liked it, but it took a lot of blowdrying and gel to get it just right!
I had a short mohawk for a couple of months before going sly, which came pretty close to my favourite hairstyle other than sly. 8)
-
the "skullet" is the best cut for us mpb!!!
-
Before I went sly I had a LOT of hair. So I guess my favorite look would have to be the long haired look (and if you have short hair, the slicked back look of course!)

Much better totally bald young bro!
Yet again, proof ...for long haired dudes the only thing that compares to the edge long hair gives a dude...
is to shave it off completely BALD!
Sweet! O0

There is no question about it -- you look much better without all that hair

hairless is a winner man

Back in the day I used to totally have the super gelled spiked out hair. And it worked for me for a while. Funny thing is, even after I stopped using the gel, it stood up ALL the time. But that was back in high school, like wow, 6 or 7 years ago. Since it started going into retreat I've gotten shorter and shorter until I adopted the scorched earth policy.
-
I always wanted to have a flattop, but by the time I got up the nerve to give it a try, there wasn't enough hair left to pull it off. :(
-
back when my hair looked like this.......................lol

I always wanted to wear a flattop as well but didn't have enough "top" to flatten. I sported a high and tight, which eventually became a bald fade on the sides and about a 1/2-inch on top. Man, I thought that was the equivalent to shaving my head....I was so mistaken.
...until I saw the light and went 100% slick sly bald thanks to the encouragement from you guys. That was over a year ago and there's no going back for me.
-
would have loved to try a mohawk years ago.. oh well. didnt happen.
-
When I was a kid, I always had a flat top during the summers. ...Tried to do in my 40's but just didn't have enough hair to do it.....
-
Pre sly, I guess my favorite haircut was a crewcut. When I was young, my dad wouldn't let me have long hair. Eventually my stepmother convinced my dad to let me grow my hair longer. Initially, I had a white man's afro. I didn't even need to perm my hair. All I needed to do was use a pick. When I got tired of that, I kept my hair at a moderate length. But at the same time, I started growing a beard. I had a moustache but I always wanted a beard. So since that is hair, is it a hairstyle? Other than my sly head, I love my beard. But I do need to admit that about 1990 I had a short mullett. The hair was long in the back, but not long like Red's mullett picture!

Dang. I must be the only person here who thinks the mullet looks cool. At least, I think it looks cool on certain people (i.e. people who don't enjoy the taste of straw and work with a shirt on)

I liked when I had a flat-top.
In my younger years I sported a "mullet".
-
The mullet is not that bad. I stell see it occasionally here on the Gulf Coast. Redneckville! If my hair was not so unruly, I probably would have done it. Unfortunately, all my life my hair was called an explosion in a Brillo pad. Therefore I was unable to have any style. Now you see why I went sly forever.
-
My favorite was a recon style high and tight about 1/4" on top and shaved on the sides. Now my hairline is the opposite, smooth on top.
-
I like the spiky/messy look. It's a tad metrosexual, but that's what I always wore before my hair started thinning. Think David Beckham/Ryan Seacrest.
-
A #1 Buzz.
-
Before finally going completely slick, my favorite was either a razor shaved horseshoe flat with a good landing stip or I wore a clipper shave down to sandpaper. I use to bounce back and forth, going with the clipper or razor shave when we went to the field. Eventually, I realized I always wanted to be completely bald and kept it completely slick. That was a long, long time ago...
is that a joke or are you being serious? i honestly cant tell lol.
-
why should it be a joke? ???

Honestly, I never enjoyed any styles I sported until I went sly. The closest thing was a buzz cut and that's probably due to it being close to sly.
I do however love creative haircuts, some laugh, but you must give them props for ingenuity! This has to be among my favorite!!!

I must have missed the joke, too.
Ditto on the pre-slick cut, Skinhead002. I always had either a short crew cut or a razor-skinned sides high and tight and a buzzed down top for years before shaving my head slick. Never did have enough to carve out a flattop.
At least it was easy to maintain and always looked squared away!
-
Do I really need to say what mine is?! ;)
-
I'll vote for BA's look. That was my favorite cut, really tight with a landing strip.
-
I used to wear a short buzz, and actually have some hair right now.
After my six-year anniversary of slyness, I decided to take a break from shaving; I have about 3 weeks growth right now.
It's very freaky because now I'm seeing how much hair I've lost since I went BBC; I've totally progressed to almost complete mpb. There's a tiny bit of fuzz on top, but pretty much all that's growing back is the mpb fringe. I look just like my mpb uncles now....lol!
