Title: Tried out my new HeadBlade today.
Post by: buuckkweet on August 10, 2008, 06:50:18 PM
After being Sly for over two months, I decided to get myself a HeadBlade.  Below is an email that I sent to HeadBlade:

I've been shaving my head for over 2 months.  Within my first week I changed from a Braun Synchro, to a Gillette Mach 3.  Razor shaving my head IS the way to go for me!  I'm a proud member of Sly Bald Guys, and I've read tons of posts from my bald brothers, singing the praises of the HeadBlade.  I figured that I was a newbie to the head shaving scene, and I would get one when I perfected my shaving routine.

One of the first products I picked up was HeadSlick shave cream.  I used this, with my trusty Mach 3.  Life was smooth and great.  HeadSlick is the best shave cream that I've ever used!!  I really love this stuff!!!!!  Yes, my head was smooth and stubble free, but something was not quite right.  My head was shaved, it felt smooth, something was missing.  I use a little baby oil on my head prior to using HeadSlick.   My mach 3 was giving me a close shave.  I look bald, yet something just didn't feel right.  I just figured this is as good as it gets and decided to be content.

Then about a week ago my trusty Mach 3 started giving me less that desirable results.  I was shaving my head more carefully than ever, to even get as close as when I started shaving my head with my Braun.  I rinse my blades often, change blades often, and still got lousy results.  It seemed to me that my scalp was immune to my shave routine.  To say that I was concerned, was an understatement.

Today, as I was doing my usual reading and posting on Sly Bald Guys, and there was the answer to my problem in front of me.......the holy grail of shaving tools, the HeadBlade!  At this point, I felt that it was time to step up with the "big boys" and give it a try.

This afternoon I went to my local Walgreens and picked up my HeadBlade Sport and a pack of HeadBlade triple blades.  I had a good idea how to use my new HeadBlade because of all the posts and videos from Sly Bald Guys.

Talk about having my eyes opened for the first time!

First off, The HeadBlade Sport is hands down, the most intuitive, and ergonomically designed shaving device that I've ever used!!  It took only 5 minutes to shave my entire head!  And I took my sweet time!

Secondly, shaving was downright enjoyable and effortless!  Very few missed areas.  I was constantly going over the same places with my Mach 3.  Just as stated, in your website, and in the very well written instructions, the HeadBlade Sport just glides across your head, with no pressure at all!  Nothing short of pure and simple comfort.  No pulling, tugging, or irritation at all!  Now head shaving is just too easy!!!

Third, and most important.  Now, my my head finally feels the way it should, smooth and stubble free.  This is what I was missing!

Last, I have dark colored hair, and  the once dreaded shadow is barely noticeable.

THIS IS GREAT!  I ACTUALLY LOOK  AND FEEL LIKE A BALD GUY!!!  Now I know how all my HeadBlade using brothers at Sly Bald Guys feel!!!

The words in this email cannot truly express my deep gratitude to everyone at HeadBlade for making these outstanding products!  Thank you so very much!!!!!!!!!!

Dean Rhodes, A new, and proud HeadBlade customer!

Anyone who is reading my post, and is still considering the purchase of a HeadBlade, my advise is simple, Read as many posts as possible, and watch the HeadBlade video.   And DO ask questions here at SBG!  The Sly Guys will not steer you wrong! O0

Thanks Bros!  Mrs. BW had a little gift for me when I got home from work this afternoon, a tube of Bald Guyz Shave Gel!  WOOHOO! O0  My bald brothers, that is one great wife! :@`

You guessed it, I just had to try out the new stuff with my HeadBlade.  Bald Guyz Gel works like a charm.  It is every bit as good as HeadSlick!  O:O  Got my first nick on the back of my dome.  You'll have that, now and then. ^-^

I'm sure everyone knows how much I enjoy being Sly, but now it's just that much more fun!!!! ;)

ALL of the Bald Guyz products RULE!!!  I can't say enough about how they have changed my dome. Before I used their shampoo, shave gel and moisturizer my head looked like a pepperoni pizza. Now it looks like a bowling ball, smoooothe and shiny.

If I would have had a HB when I first became SLY, man it would have saved me lots and lots of headaches. No pun intended....well maybe a little one, but I do believe that if the selection board for the Nobel Peace Prize for design were to be SLY, and then tried the HB for the first time I know the HB designer, I think he is also the company president TODD would be a Shoe in for the prestigious award..................

Thats what I think of the HeadBlade........

Hey buuck, welcome to the HB fold, the best tool for the job as I've been known to say.
Glad to hear you are using it and getting a great shave.
If you have patience and take it slow when you are first learning to use it, you will never have a problem. So much more natural feeling than a stick razor.

It works well with pretty much any cream or oil you may use. Try it with King of Shaves or Shave Secret oils and let me know how it goes.

Keep it smooth and keep it HB!      O0

I admit it is the best shave I have ever gotten for my head, but there are places it isn't perfect. On the sides of the head, I can't go against the grain...I am forced to either go back to front or front to back. Does anyone know what I mean? Around the ears and general sides of my head take way more effort than anywhere else.
I dare say that it annoys me enough that I have considered other razors.

JD, I just followed xnewyawka's lead and use my HeadBlade to shave my dome, and I use my Mach 3 to clean up and get any areas that are still rough.  There is no law that says you gotta use just the HB exclusively.  Many Sly Guys use more than one blade to get the job done.  Don't give up on the HB yet!

Thanks Joe!

Your great advise, along with many of the other Bros has literally saved my scalp many, many times! O0  Next time I get to wal mart, I'll have to grab some shave secret and give it a try.  Right now, my current favorite is good ol' baby oil.  It works like a charm when used with HeadSlick, or Bald Guyz shave gel. 8)

I'm not buying a bunch of cartridges. I like the headblade a lot, I really do...but it drives me crazy that I can't get the sides of my head very well. Maybe I should chop off my ears so I can actually go UP the sides of my head.

Have you tried horizontal strokes? Not sure if you mentioned it up above.

I hear ya, and what I did is bought a Sensor Excel handle (they are still around). That way I still buy just one cartridge (the Sensor 3, I prefer) and it works out great.

As hard as I try to use just the HeadBlade, I can't get a perfect all around shave without using a good old regular handled razor.

Because I'm not about to turn the blade around, like they say to do, every time I shave.

I received a reply from Todd Greene a week ago, in reply to my email to HeadBlade.  He asked me if I wanted a promo pack of various HB products.  So today, I received some super cool goodies from the fine folks at HeadBlade.

WOOO-HOOO!  It's Xmas in September!!! !B@ !B@ !B@

Bro, that's just L A Z Y! ;D I use ONLY a HeadBlade for all my shaving needs. Flip that cartridge around and you can get all those little places (around the ear) and shave your face as well. But I will say that if you HAVE to use a regular handled razor, your way of doing it is the most logical. O0
