Title: Waxing your scalp (owwch)
Post by: dagenhamjim on August 07, 2008, 02:51:46 PM
I dont know if this has been asked this before, but has anyone or know anyone who has waxed their scalps? In theory it should work and you would not have to shave your head for a couple of weeks.

but in reality that is gonna hurt like a mofo!!  :o :o

although I guess maybe it wouldn't be so painful once your head has toughened up a little..
personally, I've always thought that the results of waxing were overrated anyway.

Are you thinking of getting your noggin waxed then Jim?

I thought I read it only lasted 4 to 7 days and you had to let your hair grow out an inch before you could get it waxed? If true, it seems to me you have to go longer in between waxings than 2 weeks if that was the case.

Does she do it at home? If so maybe you could try to do just a little spot and see how it does.

Hmmm,  I dunno, I wonder if he got round to finishing it?
Never the less granted, he's showing abit more self control than the man CJ here.

I have to admit, I find it intresting. I think if it lasted a month or so I would deal with it.
My wife says I'm a borderline sadist. LOL

HELL NO! I cringe thinking about it, and I am almost in tears when I see it happen. I can't help but think that the people trying this are on some crazy drugs. If it lasted a YEAR I wouldn't put my head through that kind of torture.
I don't know about you guys, but have you ever seen a woman who had hair on her legs as thick as the hair on your head? I think I could stomach having my back or arms waxed if I really wanted to...but the head, no way! The hairs are thicker and denser. DAMN! That is CRAZY TALK!

surely it can't hurt anymore than having a tattoo?
Must admit though.. bikini line waxing is a heck of a lot more painful than having your legs waxed.

Yeah, a tattoo doesn't really hurt that much. You won't see anyone scream out in pain like that. If a bikini line hurts more, just think about how a head would hurt even MORE. It's STILL denser on the head. And you have a thinner layer of skin.

The first time that I went bald, a friend of mine was in school to become a beautician. She thought that it would be cool as all get out to wax my head for me.

Her instructors all nixed the idea out-of-hand. Explained that it would not be a safe procedure. At all. Blood would ensue.

Personally, I could handle the pain... I'm good at that... but I wouldn't want to...

Many wax because they just don't like to shave any areas...

"Just shave it!"

I've done it and am currently in the process of letting my hair grow long enough again to wax it.  10 weeks ago today is when I did it the first time.  Yeah, hurts like hell, but 10 weeks of no shaving!?  Worth it in my opinion.

i know this thread is a little old, but i just registered to comment on it. i am in the process of waxing my head. it does work. it does hurt... a lot. because it hurts i'm making it a long term project while i save up money for laser. my scalp stayed smooth for 3 weeks before i started to notice some hairs growing back. i then stopped waxing for a month (shaving every few days). the hair that did grow back was way more sparse. i just stared the waxing process again and it was way easier than the first time. this is the site that helped me get into waxing: http://www.scalptweezing.com/full_scalp_waxing_audio_&_photos.htm

The only thing I would wax is that stupid island of hair I have on my forehead. I should let nature take its course, but I hear it doesn't go away with some people.

I don't mind having a tiny fade of horseshoe around my sides, but that island really gets on my nerves!

I was pretty close to trying it ; bought the wax, the warmer, the sticks, the cloth material strips - and started getting it warmed up... I chickened out, and never got that close again.

Looks like I made the right decision, by the looks of that video posted... Yikes !!  So painful !!

Its also easier to get ingrown hairs (yes, even in your head) when you wax. :S

Its right up there with using Nair on your scalp.  Its just not worth it.

Not a good idea, and I just don't get it.   :D
