I was talking with a attorney about my experience being selected for jury duty but then not getting on a jury (for me, a good thing). He said I didn't get selected beacause I'm a Headshaver. He said that it's very evident from my shadow that I'm a Headshaver and that attorneys don't select Headshavers because they tend to be free and independent thinkers and cannot be easily led around by an attorney's argument.
Has anyone experienced this? Judging by the banter on this site we are a more independent thinking group. The moral of this story is: Don't like jury duty? HeadBlade!
Seriously...do u think someone is a free and independent thinker just because they shave their head?

its been a while...at least 10 years ago. Thanks though Bro....now watch me get called.

Sometimes I wonder why I go to the trouble of writing a lengthy post.
Bet you didn't even read what I said. You have nothing to fear as long as you keep that noggin' of yours hair-free.

Same thing happened to me earlier this year...
Apparently a lot of circumstantial evidence was to be presented in the case (DUI). Don't know what that could be.
They dismissed me....talked to a friend of mine (local attorney) who said the same thing Ben did.
I actually would love to serve on a jury someday. However, not enough to stop shaving my dome. 8)

I can't remember that far back.

Never been called. And I have been a registered voter in four different counties and two different states.
-
I've been called for jury duty 2 times in the last 7 years but got out of it both times. I've moved 3 times, during that time, and always to a different county. So, every time I've been called it's been from my former county, and upon calling with that info ... I've gotten out of it.
-
I've been called up twice and wangled my way out of it.. if it happens again though, I believe that I HAVE to do it!

Never and if they call me I will flee to Canada.

I read everything you wrote but I didnt respond to it, sorry. I have to disagree with you. One of our customers here at the flooring store was( is) an attorney and he is a headshaver. So I dont see where that would play a role in you getting picked for jury duty or not. What if I was someone who wanted to be on a jury. I could fight for my right and that would be discrimination.

Oh yeah! Don't worry MB, there may be times where I'm quiet here but it doesn't mean I'm not watching everything! Don't forget eh, I work for Big Brother... and we're ALWAYS watching you!!! :x!

But yeah, I have never been called and won't ever be cause of the job. It's a conflict of interest really.

Last time for me was back in 2000. A patient was suing a dentist. In one week I learned more about teeth and gums than I cared to know. We found in favor of the dentist though as he was trying to deal with over 40 years of the guys negligence of his mouth. The look on the plantiffs attorneys face was priceless when the not guilty verdict was read. O0

I don't know for certain but I have been told that if one has ever been hypnotized they are less likely to call you up as they do consider people who have been to be more easily influenced.

It's kinda funny, ever since I told them I couldn't serve because the voices in my head said to stay home and clean the guns... they haven't asked me again! ???

Tim, You missed the whole point of my post. You do have rights. You have the right to be called for jury duty. But your rights stop there.
It's the attorney's and the judge that select who will be on the jury.
They will select who they think will be the best fit for their case.
And if that means discrimination so be it.
Rights....schmights! :Xo!

YEP!! I have heard this before myself.
My last JD experience was in 2000. I did not shave my head then. It was a murder trial. I'm pretty sure I was de-selected by the defense team because I'm a proponent of the death penalty and spoke freely about it.

It's been two years since I have done jury duty. People around here always act shocked when they get the notice for jury duty. Shame that in KY if you drive you can be called for jury duty. ;D
-
It's been about 6 years or so for me. Was there for 3 days. Some guy kidnapped and tied up his girlfriend. Put her in the trunk of his car and drove around for a few hours before dropping her off. Didn't tell her where she was or anything, just dropped her off and left.
GUILTY! of kidnapping, false imprisonment, DUI and I think terroristic threats.
I did my civic duty and will do it again any time.

As I mentioned earlier, I've been let off the hook both times called during the last 7 years due to moving to a different county.... But, if called now (after living in the county for a while although now moving to a diff house in this county), my problem with it all is that I'm self-employed and therefore don't make a penny while serving. I believe in doing my part, but not at the sake of losing income.
So, I'm not sure how that will play out when or if I get called again. I'm not sure if they'll accept that as reason enough for dismissal. Perhaps my sly head will scare them away ....

Your right on the money there... you may get a notice to serve, BUT do to looks and your job that you hold, if one side or the other does not like you for any reason, your toast.
I was informed by mail for US District Court for federal jury but because at the time in 2005 I was a deputy sheriff, I was not required to be on any jury.

The last time I was called to jury duty was in 1993. I was selected and served on the jury in a kidnapping case here in California. Yes the defendant was convicted.

BaldBen...I'm with ya on that....
no offense to just Timmmmmay....but A LOT of folks just hit reply without AT LEAST reading a few prior posts...
We've had entire threads, I think, where everyone is just replying without reading anyone elses post....nit picky? prolly...
Me and Nomad discussed this in Chicago.....
I feel funny if I don't go back and get the context and flow of the conversation...and acknowlege folks' other musings.

OK....back to Jury Duty (sorry)
