Sitting here in my little cocoon, I suddenly became peckish.. so like Old Mother Hubbard, I went to the cupboard.. but was hoping to find some marmite so I could spread it on crackers...
alas, no marmite!! :'(
I really want some!!
for those of you that don't know.. it's a spread made from yeast extract, which, although it does contain a
high amount of salt (least it tastes quite salty) it also contains vitamin B12 and is abundant in other good stuff!!

I've tried it and although it IS salty, a better word for it, in my opinion, is NASTY . ....
Comes in a cool jar, though.

There are license plate holders that say "Got Poi?" or "Got Spam?" I was thinking that you could make up one called "Got Marimite?"

Spam is another oddity that the Brits seem to like. I know we can't blame them for introducing it -- the US Army was the culprit behind that particular eh delicacy !*u%e but I've only known a few people would actually admit to eating and liking the stuff and they were all Brits.

OMG!! I used to LOVE spam fritters when I was twee and in junior school! wouldn't touch 'em now though.
Come to think of it... I remember seeing spam in the film '50 first dates', I'm sure of it...

I've never seen that served for breakfast in the UK, either. Fried eggs, rashers, bangers, toast, and grilled tomatoes -- yes -- olive/pimento/cheese loaf, no.
My aunt in Ireland gets those olive loaves to feed to her dogs. The guy who works behind the deli counter in the supermarket saves the ends of the loaves which people don't want to buy and gives them to her.

Love marmite. Especially on toast. There was something about student nights out that always ended up with getting home and having the munchies. Marmite on toast all round at 3 in the morning.
Vegemite just doesn't compare (I once saw an Australian spread marmite on his bread the way he'd spread vegemite and then look VERY surprised).

I have some New Zealand friends who had me try some Marmite. I got quite accustomed to the taste, then went and bought some for myself, but it's not the same.
