After being a lurker here for a couple of months I just wanted to say hello and say thanks for a fantastic site.

I've been thinning for quite a few years now but it suddenly became noticeable a few months ago. I had a real crisis of confidence and was really depressed for a while - especially with the usual worries of how bad I'd look bald. I even went as far as getting propecia - but after considering I'd be on it for life - never mind the potential side effects - I just couldn't bring myself to take it.

Fortunately, I discovered this site, Seeing you guys just get on with it and do something positive has really changed my attitude. And the fact you all great sly has restored my self confidence totally. I'm just not bothered about losing my hair now, I've got it cut short and it looks fine at the moment - ok, you can tell it's thinning but you can also tell i'm not trying to hide it. In a few months I'll probably go much shorter and and then go all the way. I know you'll probably say just do it now, but I'm happy at the moment knowing I can shave it whenever I want and it'll be no big deal.

Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks for a great site which has really helped me a lot. Everyone's so positive and supportive it's impossible to feel bad about losing my hair!!

Bingo -- that is the key. The ones who "try" to hide it are generally the ones who look stupid. The balding ones with the short buzzes are the smart ones who don't stand out, and obviously don't care what others think. I'm sure it won't be long, and you'll go all the way slick. In the meantime, stick around, and enjoy yourself.

It's when you choose to take control of the situation, instead of waiting and hand wringing in panic.
In time I'm sure you'll take it down, do it when you feel ready.
But I guarantee you will say "I wish I had done it sooner", as many of us here have.
