Title: SLY?
Post by: LINEWYAWKER on July 30, 2008, 11:00:17 AM
Maybe this question has been answered before. Maybe I'm just dense today and can't see whats right in front of me. I'm new here and I'm new at being BBC, but I grew up with a father who was bald from the age of around 21 or 22 (he never referred to himself as being bald, but rather as his friends as being hairy), but I never heard of a reference to SLY. Please help me to understand where the reference comes from.

The reference comes from Tyler

"I see" said the blind man as he picked up his hammer and saw. Allow me to rephrase my question now that you answered what I asked but not what I meant to ask. Does the term Sly have any special significance? I am just trying to understand since I am feeling very enthusiastic about this site and want to pass the word, I just want to anticipate questions others might have of me.

While I can't speak for Tyler or the others what I have learned here is that Sly is all about the "attitude" of shaving your head.  Having the confidence to face life as a slick dude unafraid of others opinions.  It is taking charge of your life whether MPB or BBC and being your own man.

Well if that is the case then I am glad to be a Sly Bald Guy.

As well, SLY by definition means slick; emphasizes smoothness and guile. Slick and smooth like my head!!!! O0

Awesome

(Taken from the thread RazorX posted:

"Bald" is something that happens to you. "SLY" is someone you become!

When I called the site "Sly Bald Guys" I was looking at the "playfully mischievous; roguish" meaning of the word Sly.  But, it really is doing what makes YOU feel the most confident about YOURSELF in regards to shaving your head and dealing with your MPB by NOT covering it up.

Yeah, I always think of it in the "take THAT Mother Nature" vein.
