Title: Advantage-fountain of youth
Post by: Mike on July 21, 2008, 01:14:06 PM
I was at work yesterday and came out of the back room and saw the back of a bald head going down an aisle (spelling?). The guy looked like he was maybe 25, he had a nice tan and overall looked young. When I asked him if he needed help he turned around and he was in his 40's. After I helped him I told him that he looked younger and he told me he gets that alot. It seems that being sly can take years off of the way you look.

This would have been a better story if the guy had actually told you his age, instead of you being able to tell when you saw his face.   >:D

Sorry about that razor, I have always been bad at telling stories and jokes, I can take something funny and make it horrible just by trying to re-tell it lol.

Lol, I am pretty much a head nudist when it comes to head rubs, everyone wants to do it but I'm the only one brave enough to.

I've gotten that a lot too, about it making me look younger.  And I can see it too, on other guys.

Agreed with all of the above... I can't think of a single example I've ever seen of someone looking older when they went sly...

People thought I looked 10 years younger even before the full shave but now I have young (I mean really young) girls flirting and being nice to me. No complaints here.

This aspect of looking/feeling younger has a strong appeal for me.

Is there a secondary experience that happens as well, in which you start taking better care of your diet, health, nutrition, skin care routine, as a result of your shaved head?

I keep thining that so much of me will be exposed:) that I will want to take the utmost care and lead with bright eyes and a well-cared for body.

It is like I have been reading, people's morning/evening save routine has alomost a spiritual/meditative quality for many. And so, I might hypothesize that the body becomes more of a temple.

Or, I am totally wrong!:)

Hope you all are enjoying a beautiful Saturday.

Funny that this topic has come back up.  This past week I came across and old friend from College and high school that I hadn't seen since college and sent him a friend request.

When he accepted the friend request, he sent me an email and mentioned that I had less hair that the last time that he had seen me, but he also comment on how young I looked.
This guy is the exact same age as I am and when I pulled up his facebook profile and saw his pic with a full head of gray hair and it was obvious how much younger getting rid of the gray can make you look.

I turned 45 last week.  This week I was officiating a playoff game and was assigned a partner with whom I had never officiated.  We started talking about officiating and I told him I had been a ref for 25 years.  He said how old are you.  I told him 45.  He said he thought I was like 33.  Definitely made me feel good.

It is a really cool thing.  I think it throws people off and they just don't know how to tell how old you are.

After a shave I feel like my age (21) but after 20-24 hours I feel like an old cancer patient, so YES, it really makes you look younger. Well it depends of course how you look in the face, if you work out, if youre moderately tanned etc.

Okay, what's wrong with a  daily shave it's the best part of the day to finish the shower/shave, etc., and go down to breakfast, rubbing that baby butt smooth dome--damn it's good.

Young, well, at 21 you don't appreciate it, but let me tell you a short story.  I belong to a men's club and this year at the annual meeting I ran into another sly member, he's in his mid-30's.  He's been sly for about 3 or 4 years, did it on a business trip, realized it was gone, shaved it off in the hotel room and went to the meeting--and home.  He's got a great dome.  We were having drinks before dinner at the meeting, and it turns out he goes to the same health club--except he goes in the evening, brave guy.  He told me about how young people thought he was, and I asked how old he really was, it was 38, I believe.  Then he returned the question, glup--I told him, 64.  And this is a quote, "Damn, I would have sworn you were no more than your late 40's."  Needless to say I bought him another drink.  ;D ;D ;D ;D  I like to think I look my age and that my contemporaries have really just let themselves go.  Do you think it helps that I turn the air conditioning down to 32 at night so I don't age in my sleep?  I mean I'm from New Orleans and related to Benjamin Button.  But you knew that.

I may have experienced something like this earlier this evening at the gym.  I was talking to my trainer after my workout when another trainer (the one I've been trying to lead down the road to slyness) came by with his client, a 40-something female.

We were talking about the actress Mariska Hargitay from Law & Order: SVU. We three guys were in agreement that she is pretty hot.  I was surprised to learn a couple of years ago that she's older than I thought she was.  So I said, "Did you guys know she's like 43 years old?" -- because she really does look much younger than that.  Well, the 40-something female jumped on that and just said really sarcastically -- "Yeah and that is just soooo old."  The rest of the conversation went like this

Me: (laughing) Hey, I'm just sayin' ...

Her:  Well, what can I expect from a bunch of 30-year-olds?

And then I didn't say nuttin' more.   ^-^

So maybe sly is the fountain of youth.   Or maybe the old girl just needs glasses.   :-\ :-\ :-\
