Hey,
This is my first post. I'm 22, I don't think I'm losing my hair but my scalp is constantly itching me, my hair has problems with staying in place and I have to use a lot of hair products to keep it clean. I'm wondering if a shaved head would be a good solution and if I'm even old enough to go for it.
Thanks

Hiya MLL223 (ya had to go for some crazy name!! why not something nice and easy like bob or John, huh?!!) ;)
hey little man... as far as I know.. there are no laws that say you can't shave your head. My sons' are 10 and 9 and they end up scalped on a regular basis and I'm still a free woman! So I think you'll be fine as far as that's concerned.
If you have a problem with your scalp, go see your GP or dermatologist.. I'm sure they can help you if you have a real problem. But before you do, if you have a good ol' poke around on this forum, I'm sure you'll get all the answers you're looking for.
All that remains for me to say is, welcome to the forum :)

Welcome, MLL223!!!
Give it a try.....it always grows back.
One of our moderators, Schro, has a condition whereby if he keeps any hair at all, it's an itchy freakin' pain in the @$$ for him....
So he keeps it shaved O0

Welcome!!!
The guys and MB are right..........DO IT!!!
The itchy scalp could be something as simple as dryness. Read the great posts on shaving routines and moisturizers should get you squared away. If the itching persists, see a dermatologist for some extra help. O0

Age has nothing to do with it. Hey! Where are some of you young guys? Let's hear from you.
Shave it, keep it 30 days or so and see if your scalp is better. It'll grow back. I am bald by choice (BBC) here and wouldn't have it any other way. I'm 37 , if that matters.
Good luck and keep us posted!

Welcome to the group, man!
I say buzz it down with no guard. If you like it, then shave it clean and see how that feels. If you don't like it, it'll always grow back!

I would say do it! I loved it and still do.. Im also Bald By Choice O0

James you're looking a lot like Morpheous lately. You should start telling people stuff like "There is no spoon". :*))
MLL223: Back in the hair victim days, (maybe 3-4 months now?) I used Head & Shoulders stuff for my itchy scalp and it worked pretty well. The only thing I've found that works better than that is my Mach 3. Give it a go man. You'll be surprised how good it feels and how easy it is to maintain. And you never have to go for a haircut, you look sharp everyday with a headshave. Welcome to the forum and keep us posted on what you decide. Ohh and 25 here btw.

If you don't need your parents permission...you're old enough. Go for it.

You're old enough. I can tell you now that I wish I had shaved my dome when I was 22 - my hairline wasn't even as bad as it was last year when I finally took the plunge. Shaving the dome should help with your scalp issues - I had a dry scalp and tried using several different shampoos and products - shaving the head daily will help with your itching also. Embrace it, shave it, and you won't regret it - but if you do it'll grow back!
-
Thanks for the insight everyone, for now I think I'm going to keep my hair but I wouldn't rule out shaving it in the future.

Hello,
I have always had problems with my scalp,it being itchy and irritated etc. I know there are some special shampoos that can help with that but to buzz it would be the best for your scalp and hair. And your hair will grow back healthier.
Don't let you hair control you, it's just waste of time, believe me. It's not good to think about how ones hair looks like if you suffer from hair loss. The more you start thinking about it the more you will get depressed, maybe not depressed but uncomfortable with your outlook.
and Welcome.

Just do it.. Don't thnk so much about it.
It's only hair, and it will grow back.
If you're hesitant, shave with a buzzer and use level 2, then try level 1, then no guard, and it will be more gradual.
Really nothing at all to fear. Don't worry about sticking out - it's better to be different.
