I dunno...seems like after both of ya pass 25 doesnt really matter..does it.  Just seems kinda awkward when there is a 21 year old with a 30 something.  But when you are 60 and she is 50 whats the difference.  Me and my wife are 11 months apart.

The Lovely Mrs. Schro is 3 yrs older than I am.

Guess there's really no hard fast rule. Obviously the older you get, the less of a factor age is.

Well, I think as long as the age difference isn't that great it's not a big issue.  I've seen some odd ones at work though.  The worst I saw, was the man who was in his mid fifties with his new wife who was 23 and their newborn.  Normally I'd say 'Good for him!' but what made this situation wrong was that they were coming to travel and sight see, and in the van with them was the mans children from his previous marriage who were 12, 16 and 21, two boys and a girl respectively.  Another one I saw was just last week and the guy was born in '54 and his 'girlfriend' was born in '87.  That didn't seem all that wrong though as both were hideous and from outward appearances there only appeared to be, at most, a 10 year age gap.

I've been wondering the same thing lately myself as I've been in a bit of a quandary.  There is a new clerk at work, and normally I'm a firm believer that you don't get your meat where you make your bread, but things are sort of pushing me to go against that.  I just found out the other day though that she just turned 19 a few months ago, and I'll be 27 in 2 months.  This is somewhat odd for me cause I've only ever dated women older than me, the oldest of which was just a few years mind you, but still.

Age really IS just a number, and is in fact relative to your level of maturity, how you act, feel and portray yourself.

As long as both parties are over 21 and neither has children who are older than the other, I can't see why it should matter.

I think it delends on the individuals. It can be an unconfortable situation for some.

Back when i was 28 years old I asked my son's pre-school teacher out on a date. She didn't hesitate and said yes. We went out and had a great date. We went out a few more times and on the fourth date the subject of ages came up. I was shocked to find out she was only 19! I asked her if she had any idea how old I was and she said she didn't care. When I told her 28 she didn't even blink.
She was a great girl but I could never get comfortable with the fact that when we went out she couldn't legally have a drink and that there were places I could go but she couldn't. I broke it off with her a few months later.

There were a lot of raised eyebrows by my friends too..........

I think it all depends on the people.... the biggest age difference that I've ever been in a relationship with is 13 years younger.

People mature at different rates (or none at all), so just because the difference in age may be great, the difference in "life" might not be that much...

Well I've been on both sides of the fence. Currently my g/f is 3 years older than I am. :@` Many years ago I had a 10 year relationship with a young lady 7 years younger than myself. >:D I don't believe age really has much of an influence one way or the other. I think that maturity levels, experiences and othe commonalities are what make a relationship work regardless of age differences.

Sometimes I have a hard time remembering that I am the age I am, so the prospect of dating someone in their 20s doesn't phase me at all.  I just don't feel like I'm too old to go out with someone that age, though there are probably plenty of people who would tell me that I am.  I think a lot of it has to do with attitude.  Some people just maintain a youthful outlook their entire lives, while other people seem like they were born old.

paulie...good topic!  when it comes 2 relationships... there R going 2 B many differences such as age, opinions, etc.  however... if both parties don't mind than it doesn't matter.  hence... age ain't nothing but a number.  O0

First off - GO HAMMER!

OK, I am 14 months older than my wife so we're pretty close in age.  I don't really act my age, and frustrates the daylights out of my wife sometimes.  I will be 38 this year.

I don't think in a relationship it matters if both people are OK with it.

I'm absolutely attracted to older women than my own age. Think it has something to do with me being so insecure about myself and I want someone that knows what she want. Had some really bad experiences with girls in my youth.

Anyways age is just a number, I don't care if my girlfriend/wife will be 20 or 50. But she needs to love sex!  :D

Pburke,
I know you been waiting for me to chime in  :)
Women in their early 30's are just really getting into their sexual prime, they are willing to try just about anything you throw at them... so be careful  >:D ***note, pop them on the @ss from behind... trust me  >:D
The late 20's... they are fun, but you have to stick a sock in their mouth.
The early 20's.... no conversation needed... just nod and smile... some instruction needed during tag time!
The late 30's early 40's, better know what your doing because you will know it if you do it wrong!!

And for some comic relief, I was watching the news one afternoon when my dad was over and when he came in they were showing graduation ceremonies from the local high schools. He said, "son, what are you watching this for?" .... I quickly responded... "FRESH MEAT"  >:D

There is more truth to that than you realize.  Since men have a shorter life span, it means one will spend less time without the other.

Post by: Razor X on August 01, 2008, 10:44:43 PM
I think a lot of it depends on what age you are when you meet your significant other.   If you're say, 28 years old, getting involved with a woman who's 3 or 4 years older is no big deal.   But if you're say, 35, it could be a different story, because women who are in their late 30s are often worried about their biological clocks and want to have children as soon as possible.  And that's fine, if that's what both parties want, but I don't like to be rushed into things.  Getting involved with someone who's 3 or 4 years younger buys you a little more time.

It all boils down to different things working for different people.  No disrespect meant toward any of you whose wives a little older than you are. I hope it doesn't sound like I'm saying that there's anything wrong with that, because there isn't.  It's just not something I would probably do at this stage of my life.  :)

My oldest that you can consider I was being with was 48years, she looked like she was 30, also acted like she was 25-30. We spend almost a year together though. I liked her very much but I couldn't be with her when my hair loss started to take over me. We still speak over email once or twice a year and she is still very beautiful. I hope some day that I can see her again. But that might never happen since she got some other dude now.

Well another story from me. ;S

When I was 17, and dating a girl who was 15, it made a BIG difference ...to her MOTHER...  after all, "boys like that are only after one thing..."

Long story short, we continued to date in spite of her mother's objections.  Her mother learned to tolerate me.  She had to because I married her daughter.

That was 37 years ago.  We're still together.
