Title: Are women's razors a little known secret?
Post by: The Zook on July 16, 2008, 07:46:22 PM
Although I've never been so much as nicked by the Fusion or Mach3 I've always felt something was missing, I think I found out what.

I read on here that someone was using a Venus blade on their Mach3 handle so I decided to dig into this a little bit since my wife has one of these.

Turns out there is a huge difference, albeit a slight one... seems the women's cartridges are rounded while the men's are flat, I had to see how this worked on the head.

Due to sheer design, I found it got into the various grooves of my skull much better with less effort and fewer passes. The blade didn't feel like it was scraping across my skin either like the Mach3 and Fusion did (my other two favorites).

Digging in a little further on Gillette's website I see there is a Venus Embrace, must be the Fusion version for women because it has the extra blades. The Embrace is a little different in design in that it isn't rounded so much, but the blades move with your contours, I'm anxious to try this out as well.

You have to try this out for yourself... Pick up a 4 pack of Venus Divine (at least they are bluish), I think you'll understand after the first pass.

I think we've been getting the shaft guys!

Oh man...I dunno. I guess I have to try it. I'll have to use the "it's for my gf" excuse at the store I guess.

Well I guess it's only for those who are secure enough in their manhood.  O:O

Does work good, I'll say that much... but it's not perfect, there's way too much 'null' area around the blades so it's impossible to get under the nose and around the ears.

I put a little effort in and wrote to Gillette, we'll see if anything happens with their next generation :)

<--- Retired Marine and Picked up a 3 pack Venus Disposables at Target today. The clerk looked at me funny when she scanned them, so I told her that I have gotten some of the closest head shaves with a woman's razor. She replied with, "I never though about that... I'll have to try my razor on my boyfriends head next time he lets me shave him."

Naaa... I was a slimy reservist, so that explains A LOT!

Anyway, The Venus did a "decent" job... I had to put more pressure on teh blades than I was confie with & had to make 3 passes on the back of my head. I also had a bit more stubble 8 hours later than I do with a Headblade/Sensor Excel combo

On the plus side, my shadow was lighter with the venus & my head had ALOT more shine then what I got with the ice cube / Aloe finsh

whatever guys!! I used to love using the Venus razors! So gentle and nice. I dont give a crap if it is pink with glitter on it. If it gives me a great shave then I'm down.

If the tool does the job, who cares that the Marketing people decided to put spongy things around the blades, colored it pink or lavender, and told us it was for "women".  These are all tactics used to open up their market and try to make women feel special with a razor designed just for them...........

Hell my girlfriend uses my Mach 3 for her hairy legs, why cant we use a womans razor on our Beautiful Bare Noggins?

This is America isnt it....There's no laws against it is there, so why should we have shame in using it?

I'm going out tomorrow, and getting some and when I get to the check out line and the Cashier looks me in the eye and gives me that weird "what the hell are you doing" look, I'm going to look him/her  square in the eye and reply, "their for my wife!"      8)

My friend gave me a Venus Embrace to try out, he swears by it, as his gf and him use this product.  I have tried it out, and must say this razor shaves just as close to the Fusion.  So whenever buying refills I will pick whichever one is on sale Fusion/Venus.  No cares about design or colors for this guy!!
