Title: Bank failure
Post by: Paul56 on July 16, 2008, 10:18:28 AM
One major bank failed in California. The lines of people outside the bank were heart breaking. The federal people who were supposed to help depositors access their "insured" accounts acted more like FEMA did after Hurricane Katrina. yeeesh!!

Rather than wait for my bank to drop I went down & closed out my accounts yesterday. I took a bath on a CD, but a dollar in hand is worth 2 in the FDIC bush.

My father was a kid during the Depression (the 30s one- not the Reagan Depression of the 80s) and told me stories about bank failures. Guess what, folks: the 30s are BAaack...

Yea..pretty scary times...

funny how now it's back to real estate being more a sure thing..

if you own and aren't in debt...you have a roof over your head!

With all that said...you gotta keep a level head bro's ...things turn around...

just don't put all your eggs in one basket or panick...

and that should help ease any kind of blow...

hopefully, eh? :-\

Self induced mass hysteria

Without a doubt....that's why one just needs to take a step back before panicking!

A big problem with our bank system is the Federal Reserve Commission. It's very easy for them to ask for more $$$ without regulation.
There's a lot of oversight committees, commissions, and task groups our government could do without!

Sorry I got political there, but in these times, we need less government, not more.

OK, I feel better now.

I agree with the "self induced mass hysteria"  People will do whatever they want to do for the most part.  I see just as many Tahoes, Yukons, Explorers and new cars with drive-off tags as I ever have.  People will FIND a way to do what they want to do.  That's just the brutal truth.  People CHOOSE what THEY want to do with THEIR money.

If the 80s were a Depression, then I say let's have another one ASAP.

RazorX - I was trying to figure out what 80's depression myself.  I wasn't going to post something I wasnt sure about.   I tend to remember lots of UP times.  Then again I was a teenager so I wanted to make sure I hadn't missed something.  I don't recall anything recessive about the 80's.

Early 80's at the end of the Carter Administration - Prosperity hit about 83 - 84

I saw an interview with one of the guys in line waiting to get his money, he said he had 160k in one account and was angry because he lost so much money.  I didn't feel bad for the guy because he wasn't bright enough to keep his account under the 100k that the FDIC insures.

There's no point panicking on my end..I have no money in the bank, no plan for retirement other than the lottery, and nothing to my name but my debt.  However, I do feel bad for those single parents out there with kids--it's hard enough paying bills one my miserable salary with just me.  I can't imagine how folks worse off than me are doing.

Have no fear, Obama and McCain are both promising to fix every single problem in the financial sector, eliminate violence in the mid east, and basically guarantee peace on earth and to all a good night.  Do we have the option of voting none of the above?  or better yet, can we take the better parts of both candidates and combine them together and maybe actually have a halfway decent hope of success?

:)  Now where did  put that lottery ticket.

If we quit voting, will they all go away?

Just write in Optimus Prime.  Just think how cool that would be.
