You know when I first shaved my head I thought I wouldnt mind having the shadow
but I find myself liking my head best right after I shave.
My hair is medium brown and my shadow seems to grow back in like 4 hours.
I see all you sly bruthas in your pics with virtually NO shadow. How do you do it ?
Is it just the pics or are all you shadowless bruthas albinos :)?

No shadow, that's the holy grail and for anyone w/ dark hair, brown to black, the shadow lives. I got used to it, and it's better than having the even more dreaded furry ring, the fringe, the hairy toilet seat, whatever you want to call it.
There are some laser threads, but that seems too extreme for me, but it might work for you.

I've got an in the middle shadow...you can see it but a lot of times and in most pics...no shadow..
I'm with you bro I would love to really look bald with not a hint of any shadow..
maybe one day, eh?

Good lighting! lol
I have dark brown hair and I always have a shadow, even right after I shave. It's just part of it. I have noticed that a nice tan helps diminish it though.

Much of what hair I did have before I went SLY was/is gray so my shadow is minimal. Plus like Slick said, good lighting. O0 Brother I wish I had some solid advice for ya.

djbald: 1st of all welcome 2 the sly fraternity. your avatar "shows" that U have no shadow as well. i have jet black hair so i can't get away with the shadow however... i have natural light caramel skin which can "hide" some of the shadow. the only way 2 get rid of the shadow is if U use the "laser hair" removal method (which can be painful & expensive) or if ALL your hair naturally fell out.
the dreaded shadow is probably one of the most discussed topics on this forum. the shadow is something we learn 2 live with as long as my dome is slick & smooooth & stubble-free...i'm good 2 go! O0

In my case, it's just the picture. Although as time progresses, Mother Nature is helping me look more bald, albeit mainly right down the middle. The sides are still going strong. Since I'm going on 4 years BBC (sort of), I haven't had a good look at how much gray is coming in, but maybe that will minimize the shadow on the sides and back down the road.

I think I'm in the minority. I actually like the shadow. I don't shave everyday. I actually have been shaving once every 4 days. I like the look the best 3 days after my shave.

A tan helps.
Going grey helps.
If I'm going out in the evening I shave to minimise the shadow. I don't know if other people notice it as much as I do.
-
Yeah I guess you guys are right. The shadow doesnt show up in my picture either. Oh well...maybe I will just try shaving every day and go against the grain. See if that does anything...

I'm seriously MPB and going gray, but still have quite a bit of shadow. Not much to be done about it.

I only take pictures right after I shave. O0
In all seriousness, there's a couple things you can do if you're not already doing them:
1. Get some color and it won't be as apparent
2. Shave against the grain
But, like everything else, most people aren't going to notice your shadow like you are.

I can shave and still look like I'm wearing a Velvet Wig. Shadows Suck!!

I'm dealing with the same issue -- here at 2 weeks sly. I've been shaving every day, mostly though, cuz I like to feel the super smooth skin after getting a close shave. But also, because of the shadow. I've also been trying to get into the sun a bit and see if that helps. Pretty much though, I'm just starting to get resigned to the fact that it's there -- and that it's somewhat obvious to anyone that knew me before when I wasn't sly -- that I definitely have MPB. Oh well. I'm definitely caring less and less what others are thinking, or not thinking, about my dome -- one of the many great side effects of going sly :)
