Two bald guys were elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame for the class of 2007; well sort of. Cal Ripken, who was sporting the slick dome look at press interviews sat along side of his fellow inductee, Tony Gwynn, who used to shave his head, but isn't currently sporting the look.
I want to send out a big congratulations to the two of these guys. Both of them are some of the best examples of how athletes should exemplify themselves and the type of dedication athletes should give to their teams. Both Gwynn and Ripken spent their entire careers with the same team and always went out and played their best. These are two class acts!

I am a huge tony gwynn fan. I respect ripken, but not like the way I appreciate gwynn.
He was the best pure hitter of our generation, hands down, no contest, do not even try to debate it.
The only guy with a chance to come close currently playing is Albert Pujols.

those guys are class acts. that is the kinda guys i want my kids to look up to. not the bonds, mcgwire, etc crowd. i can't wait for baseball season to start. i love baseball. GO BRAVES. and yes i do hate the yankees. nothing personal, just been a braves fan since birth. hating the yankees just goes with that.

Growing up in the Los Angeles area....I was a HUGE Dodger fan. At a young age was idolizing this line up
Ron Cey
Steve Garvey
Bill Buckner
Don Sutton
'member those guys?
-----------------------------------------------------------------
First Dodger game....my grandma took me.
Walter Alston = manager
Tommy Lasorda = 3rd base coach
Sandy Kofax = pitcher
Bobby Valentine = Outfield
(OK....that's dating this middle age guy)

As an Astros fan, I have to say I hate the Braves(nothing personal, we are rivals do to all these playoff meetings). It was especially fun to watch Brad Ausmus of all people hit a homerun in game 4 2005 off Kyle Farnsworth to send the game to extra innings. And he hit it in Andruw Jones vicinity which was even more improbable. Then the teams decided they wanted to play 9 more innings just for kicks.
Bout time we got revenge for the smoltz, glavine, maddux dominance that you over us for so long though. And it was started in 2004 with Carlos Beltran.
Oh and yes I hate the yankees.

Poor bill buckner. And bobby valentine's greatest moment vs the dugout disguise managing the mets.
I'm betting the gibson homer was one of your fondest memories.

My first Dodger game was in.....uuuummmmmmm 1985...I think
Game went into extra innings and I fell asleep. They were giving away calendars that night and when everyone got bored, they made paper airplanes and threw 'em onto the field. I don't even remember if they won......

Steve Garvey was my favorite player and the reason I became a Dodger fan. I got to meet him once and got his autograph because my dad's friend played with him, but this wasn't until he was on the Padres. I also got to meet Tony Gwynn that day.

Cool - another Braves fan!

Ripkens than man..the iron man i believe he was called.
Tony Gwynn--I always thought he was the opposite of Wade Boggs (another awesome player) Gwynn was black on the west coast, Boggs was white on east coast. They both were extremly good hitters ( i always looked up to good hitters) My favorite part of playing baseball was smacking the hell out of the ball.
As far as teams go cant go wrong with A's, Giants, and Red Socks.

why are you taking smack from an admitted cubs fan ;D? All he has to look forward to every year is the betting pool on what day will mark prior and kerry wood go on the disabled list. And what day the cubs fall out of contention. Well that and drinking beer at Wrigley(which is a nice park, btw)

A's Fan here.....Yankees blow, Red Sox Blow, & Angels blow.

Great park!! Nothing like sitting in Wrigley on a hot sunny summer afternoon, drinking beer, and watching the cubbies!
-
actually, my two favorite teams are the A's and whoever is playing the Frisco Balco Boys....aka S.F. Giants.

Hey Rob, last night my kids & I watched the first DVD from the Buffet Live @ Wrigley DVD (Labor Day 2005). Outstanding concert DVD. Wrigley looks like a fun place to take in a game.
This morning, my son has been running around the house singing "I will play for Gumbo".
Hysterical.

It's the best! I've been to a lot of ballparks, but nothing compares to Wrigley! You ever get to Chi-town during the season, I'll take you to a game... the question is... Can you handle the bleachers?

Starting the 'keet off on the right foot! Great song!

I went to Wrigley for a game in 1997. Hangin out in the bleachers is choice!!! I think they played the Padres, and ended up losing (big surprise) But the Chi-town experience as a whole was sweeeeeeeeet. I got some interesting looks from some folks on the L. I was in my usual hilbilly type duds.......hehehehehehehe

I have to disagree Camden yards is the best stadium, they started the whole old style updated stadium craze. I attended Ripkens last game in 2001 and the electricity was unbelivable in the stadium that nite.

I agree with Jim. I've been an O's fan my whole life (been suffering though the last decade) and Camden Yards is a great place to watch a ball game. The old Memorial Stadium was cool to go to as a kid, but as an adult it was tough; bad sight lines, cramped seating, etc. Camden Yards is beautiful. Congrats to both Cal and Tony. I was secretly glad that McGwire didn't make it in this year with those two guys for obvious reasons.
